We went to Thousand-Buddha Hill (Qianfoshan) today. Many steps to climb to see several temples, including the huge Xingguochan Temple, the beautiful Maitreya Buddha and the lying Buddha with a Swastika on his chest, and a cave of 130 buddha statues.
We later found out that there is also Thousand Buddha Cliff which is a different place, 35 km away from Jinan with more Buddhas carved along a 35m wall.
We then went to Yinhuchi Jie (Muslim Food Street).
... but cleared a little bit while we were there.
We came down and visited the Dai Temple, which was built in the design of the Forbidden City.
We then went to the Muslim area of Jinan about 6pm and had a lovely meal in a Muslim restaurant, followed by a wander down a Muslim Food Street with open air cafes and a lively atmosphere. I bought a red Chinese jacket for 220yuan from some lovely ladies in a little shop.
Will and I arrived in Jinan for Qing Ming (Tomb Sweeping) weekend break. We went to the Park which is where the Baotu Spring originates and had a wander around. It was quite cold and polluted, unlike Ningbo yesterday when it had been very warm and sunny.
Had a pizza in a lovely German restaurant by the river.
After lunch and dinner at some local restaurants we were treated to a Kungfu Show. It was packed with 99.9 % foreigners but it was a great show with a lot of history on Kungfu and the Shaolin Temple.
