... most prestige award in international football, played by the US and Brazil national team, in which US almost won but eventually lost by 2 to 3 (I bet most of you didn’t know this event).

So this was how I enjoyed my first day in Romania. It is right next to Ukraine but I was too busy going to Poland and Hungary and Crimea and Switzerland to visit it until now, and like they say, better late than never.
Timisoara, Transylvania, Romania chan_hc... have. I felt persecuted and oppressed, pushed against the wall.

The train ride was around eleven hours and overnight, so I got up and went in search of another berth. I found a berth inhabited by only an old woman and a young girl. Martin and I moved to that berth and remained there overnight. We communicated some with the girl ...

We had already seen Pecs, and with nothing more to see at the farm felt it would be an uncomfortable (cold) wasted day. The drive to Romania was relatively easy except that we forgot that "GPS guy ...

Timisoara, Transylvania, Romania papamanacoWe spent a typical European day in the university border town of Timisoara. The town square is absolutely beautiful - one of the nicest we have seen. The opera house is showing My Fair Lady in a few days, and I am so sad we won´t be able to see it! The 1989 revolution started here, and you can still feel a bit of the revolutionary spirit walking through the town. After a yummy lunch in the square, we took a self-guided walking tour to see the famous buildings ...
Timisoara, Transylvania, Romania calvin.latha... about anywhere else we have been. Even the small cities are clogged with fumy traffic jams. Not only is the truck volume staggering, but the number of personal vehicles is surprising. Interestingly, the latter seem somewhat even split between ancients beaters and luxury cars. Even personal vehicles are pretty aggro, a notch above the usual European maniac. One guy we met put it this way ...
Timisoara, Transylvania, Romania steffeff... werent turning as fast, prob to do with the beers and also a restless nights sleep. I seemed to have set up my tent next to some Hungarians who decided it was time to party till around 3am, argh. In the morning we took a wrong turn and thought we had done quite a few extra km's, but when we caught up with the group it actually only was around 2km, that didnt sound too bad... We cycled with the "Tandem Train", Jos and John and Liz (from NZ) and made sure to stop ...
Timisoara, Transylvania, Romania dutchiesdiary... truly, welcoming some physical activity to release the stress, with much "encouragement" from our singers!) Courses continued coming out, and there were conversations about life in Romania and the US, preparation for the Romanian Orthodox priesthood by a couple of the men singers, stories of participation in the 1989 revolution by singers who were then college students, the exchange of CD's (from BCCS) with small hand-painted clay dishes from the Romanian ...
