As the birth place of the Romanian Revolution I was quite keen to explore this town.

In mid December 1989 protests broke out against the governments attempted removal of Laszlo Tokes the head of the reformed Hungarian Church as he had spoken out against the government earlier that year. Protests quickly spread to other ...

... just done some awesome stuff for sure. She's spending a month in Romania. She'll be working on 2 different farms for a week each and then have 2 weeks to travel. She has to hitchhike tomorrow to get to the farm. I hope it goes well for her. Oh yeah so I got to pay it forward. Mariah said that she's had stuff stolen from her. After ...

What a neat city! We didn't have a great first impression, since the taxi that took us from the train station to the hostel tried to charge us the equivalent of $120 for a 7 minute cab ride in the Romanian currency (we ended up paying 10 euros which was like 5x too much anyways but better than 100!) Fortunately, things only improved from there, and we had only positive experiences with cab ...

... especially the part about being frustrated but not having the option of giving up!

I walked around, per usual, photographed buildings, fancy squares, fun graffiti. It was so hot I had to stop every 30 minutes or so to rest in the shade and watch people. Romanians? Men with man bags slung over their shoulders. Women in tiny, tiny clothes and chic, short hairdos. Older women were adorned with pink or red dye jobs. Hitchcockean pigeon swarms on statues and in ...
