Split the difference

A travel blog entry by bencooper43

So, it's the inevitable laundry day and I'm lounging and waiting for my threads to launder and dry! Kind of a nice respite from all the activity. This country is cool. There is so much sunshine and sea. I love that. The people have been pretty friendly overall. They are clearly still very new to the tourist business but trying hard. It's nice and unassuming, if a little behind the times in their operations. I kind I like that. I am ...

Croatia Sail

... was as Joel and I set off by ourselves to explore more of the streets but I sobered up not long later in a kiddies park with a chocolate icecream.

After a night docked at Korcular we set sail for Mijet with of course another swim stop on the way. We had a choice of visiting the national park in the area but we opted out having seen Krka in Split. Instead we floated in the sea, played cards and drank Sommersby ciders on the boat when we got sick (or too hot) ...

Split, getting here was not half the fun

... road way in the opposite direction was blocked for kilometres with folks out of their cars discussing the state of the highway system.

We finally arrived in Split in foul moods, tried and cranky, and working on whether or not we would be entered into the Museum of Broken Relationships. Guess what, it started to rain and it was a drag trying to find parking near the old city.

Well putting all that aside, we found ...

Reunited in Split

... ve also thrown in some which cover our last day in Umbria. Anne and I drove down to Narni to see the town where some friends of ours from Cape Town have a home. On the way, we visited Barberani Winery where we were able to try out many of the cultivars unique to Umbria. We walked around Narni - another nice place with beautiful countryside - and had lunch at a very nice cafe. We had a plate of antipasto and a plate of the most extraordinary bacon we have ever tasted. It ...

Pucisce to Split

... in the square of the Diocletian's Palace: surrounded by old pillars, it was a great atmosphere. As we sat down at the front we got a shout-out from the singers straight away - "WHERE YOU FROM?"..possibly because we were the only members of the audience showing much enthusiasm. At one point, a drunk tourist in a cowboy hat tripped over and nose-dived into us. And we wonder why tourists get such a bad name ...

After attempting to charge us extra for ac they must have felt bad and brought the remote up. No English meant some fun charades although am still unaware of some of what she meant. Great Buffett feed at the local hotel, got kicked out after drinking more than our share of beer, I don't think he understood when we said we were nzers. Great star gazing on the beach. A long way out from split was an fun adventure.
