We got up and had a tasteful breakfast of chicken fried steak and eggs at the lodge restaurant, we took a lovely drive along scenic drive towards Grafton. The overlooks look over the Illinois River.
We got into the town of Grafton and started our wine tour.
The first place was the Floating winery which was out on the water.

We left Bentonville about 9:00 am and headed towards St. Louis.
Our first night was spent at Pere Marquette state park in Illinois just north west of St Louis.
The drive to this park was really pretty going over the Mississippi River at Alton, IL. We rode along the Mississippi River. Until we made it to Grafton, IL where the Illinois River …

No internet tonight. Wrote the blog as a word document to cut and paste later. An interesting day. Although we have not driven far it was busy and we saw heaps.Left the hotel about 9.15. We were after the bus load of senior citizens and the breakfast foods were being restocked as we arrived. Had a nice change of omelets with red and green capsicum.

Our plan was to follow Route 3 along the River Road trail. First we ...

It was an outstanding adventure and we can hardly believe that it's over, but the memories of the Great Loop will be with us forever. We had many thrilling times and a few anxious moments, some experiences that we never expected, lots of clear skies and beautiful water, and visited so many wonderful places. Mostly, we will remember the wonderful friends we made along the way and hope that in time our "sailing lines" will cross again.

          We ...

I woke up a little groggy this morning because I have been trying to kick a cold. My sinuses were clear, so I was confident that I would be okay to fly at higher altitudes. I slept in a little later than I meant to, and finally got out of bed around 9:00 AM local time. It was getting a little late in the morning so I scarfed down a ham and egg sandwich and headed on my way to the airport. I got a ride to the airport from Mr. Peterson and his father-in-law.
