... was the market alright and I couldn't think of an item that wasn't on sale there!! It took me a good 90mins to walk through it and that was just the clothes!! that didn't include the section on food, spices or shoes and bags!! it was immense!! I managed to buy some long-sleeve clothes for the coming colder days (and places where I need to cover up) for next to nothing... and I had some more pancakes with lemon and sugar ;)
Oludeniz, Muğla Province, Turkey lerouxsimard... the weather cleared up, so we went on a 12 Island boat tour. Our wooden boat had a sun deck, water slide, and diving platform. Of course, Tom's first order of buisiness was to dive off the platform, which turned into a graceful backflop instead! Our favorite stop was Aquarium bay, where we snorkeled. The water was so clear you could see 20 feet down, and there were fish all around. The last stop was red beach ...
Fethiye, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey tommcatt... ght! The famıly greeted us ın the dark and prepared a wonderful meal whıch was delıcıous (and we were starvıng!). What a welcome from people who could only say one word ın Englısh (Welcome!). We were alone wıth them, communıcatıng by sıgn language and we wondered ıf people ın our area would do thıs ıf someone showed up one evenıng!!
Fethiye-Alınca, Muğla Province, Turkey lerouxsimard... a bush on the beach, the only shade we could find, until at 5 our ferry taxi was to take us back to town. We had decided the walk down the cliff was enough. We can tell you the ferry taxi back was unbelievably rough, maybe it would have been easier to climb the cliff.

That night when reaching our hostel we were so exhausted we dropped down into our unexpectedly comfortable beds and were out like lights.

Tomorrow we head to Rhodes.
Fethiye, Muğla Province, Turkey dinoshona... they just dont seem to give a damn about them, if these places were in Dublin we would be milking them for all worth. After scaling the cliff and outwitting the barbed fencing we ran (must have been the adrenaline running at this stage) down the old road for the 2km down to the harbour. Managed to look like we owned the place (or maybe they just saw the mad feckers legging it down the hill and were afraid to stop us) and plonked ourselves in some fancy resorts sun ...
Fethiye, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey stephanberlin... has a manproof fence with a concrete base, which is liberally sprinkled with yellow granules, presumably some sort of pest poison. There is a deep valley above the complex, with views right to the top of Baba Dag, and signs of a village perched on the edge of an escarpment. DP is glad she had a swim, as there is no access to the water. Stop for a rest on the first switchback in the steep climb to the seaward face of the mountain. From here ...
Fethiye, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey diannemurray... we had to use the back roads, which are unpaved, dirt roads. Our driver always came third or fourth in the caravan, and the result was that we ate dust for almost half the trip. It was really disgusting. The landscape was dry as an old petrified bone, and the white sheathes of dust that each jeep kicked up created a wall so solid you couldn't even see. I put on my sunglasses and attempted to breath through my wet towel. By the time we got off the dirt roads (and there were ...
Fethiye, Turkey jaredwall... grabbing "volunteers" to help out with his show. This was followed by a spectacular display of fire-poi by Ziggy, one of the guys that worked there. It was spectacular. He too invited some of us to give it a go (Gil gave it a shot - see pics) but we proved no match for him. We left Koycegiz the next morning heading for Saklikent gorge, which is an 18km canyon, formed by the sliding of the base plates and the erosion of the water. We had lunch by the water on tables, half ...
