The least Turkish of places (in Turkey)

... of rain out of the canvas coverings some of the stalls.. When the rain lightened we made a break for the main road and caught a dolmus back to our hostel before it started to pour down again... It rained for most of the night and morning and because we were inbetween the harbour and the base of a mountain the sound of the thunder echoed brilliantly around us, long after the lightening had flashed...
The poor weather ...

"No rain in Fethiye, Only Sun! Never rain!"

... As soo as we got there, the storm picked up even worse, and we ran into the nearest bar for shelter. It lasted about a beer and a half and must have dropped 10 million gallons of water onto the beach. Fortunately, after the storm the sky opened and it turned into a beautiful day. We strolled along the rocky beach, along with a thousand other tourists--all british. One curious thing about the British--they ...

Strange how everything seems so familiar!

... about doing it with a large backpack. We soon found ourselves hanging on to ropes trying to descend sheer drops.

After the pleasant walk down we thought we would try and make it straight for the waterfall, as the beach seemed a bit crowded with tour boats. Shona doesn't necessarily think the effort for the waterfall was worth it. But we basically had it to ourselves and had a nice little lunch. We spent the rest of the day just relaxing ...

Secret location

... together.
They finally departed us after some more farewells and left us with the aroma of vomit in our bus from hell.
After 5 hours we finally arrived in Fethiye tired and exhausted we needed to catch one more bus to get to our destination, but for the life of us no matter how much anyone pointed we couldn't find our bus stop. Shona asked four people where to go and they all just mumbled something and pointed in a vague direction. She was having an on going argument with ...

Many have table and chairs just outside the patio doors for the renters to eat outside. Day 1 - Blue Cruise

... I only heard english spoken by 2 other people. Everyone else was speaking Turkish. It was such a great place. It was Turkey's permanent woodstock. It felt like a place the some of the young Turks escaped to. I wish I knew about this place earlier. It would have been a lot better to hang out here instead of Bodrum. This was my kind of place. The perfect escape. The guy working on my boat said if I liked this place, I would like Olympos - the town where we would end our ...

Family - The Drive to Fethiye

... overlooking the small boat marina. The area was completely protected, and even though the temperature was in the 50's, I felt warmer. After checking in, we took a stroll and ended up at the Iskele Restaurant and Ocakbashi, where our waiter, Tio, provided us with excellent service. We had the full gamut of a seaside dinner, with salads, fish and wine. What a dinner and we walked home contented and relaxed. Patty and I ...
