We all slowly fell in love with Slovenia, camping in the pine trees, swimming in the lake and chilling amongst the mountains. The campsite was full of Dutch teenagers making the most of the activities on offer on the raging river running past the campsite. A great couple of nights enjoying the surroundings, even with some traditional Slovenian music thrown in as we ate dinner on the last ...

... on to Slovenia pretty quickly. And it was a great decision as we snaked our way through the mountains, the van coping admirably, with a new stunning vista around each corner. When we arrived at the waterfall, we decided not to pay ...

... at the bottom, we continued our walk around the lake until we reached a lookout point we were aiming to find. Tom had explained that there are two paths we could take to get to this lookout point and that one was about 25 minutes up a really steep hill with fallen trees due to a recent heavy rainstorm and the other path being about 45 minutes going around the mountain to get to the top. We were trying to find the latter of the two, but it was obvious quite early ...

... as the walls climb up and around the hill. A defensive position par excellence. Hochosterwitz has never been conquered.
It's late afternoon when we arrive so we check out the opening times and enquire about camping nearby. We are directed to Langsee, a very popular swimming lake about 5km from the castle. It's time to break out the camping gear again.

    It's a lovely site ...
