... the headboards are old pallets. In fact, all the furniture looks like it’s put together from scrap lumber. And the room is huge and tiled with 2 twin beds and another twin made up as a divan. The hotel is 125’ above the sea, and there is an elevator to take you down (and back up).

We turned off for the old city of Aspendos. The first thing you come to is the bridge across what was a pretty fast flowing river. I guess the snow is melting fast and the water looked the pale green colour of very cold melted glaciers. (We know we have tried to swim in them in Kazakhstan. A.) The bridge is a recent 12C version of the Roman bridge which stood there.

... why build a house out of stone blocks 75cm thick? They must have weighed 500kg, at least. The best preserved part was the amphitheatre. Set on a cliff it was still very impressive and from the walls you got a great view down the valley.

The streets were very noisy last night, it was Saturday Night. Needless to say neither of got a really good sleep. A couple of lazy days and really enjoying staying our little apartment. The area is mostly residential but lots of little shops, cafes and fast food joints; we think the Turks eat out a lot.
