Historical Traveler Reviews Penzion Mayer Bled
I stayed at Penzion Mayer for two nights, but could have easily stayed longer. It is in a gogeous location - very peaceful. Breakfast outside each morning was an absolute delight. (it was lovely weather, but there was the option of eating in the dining room if preferred). The room was very spacious and airy, with a small balcony. The bathroom was quite large. Everything was very clean. Oh, and added bonus - BBC world was a informative change from the normal cable tv available at hotels.
Better than Home Away from Home!
Charming place to stay! Wonderful food and pleasant, personal but not obtrusive service - makes one feel your arrival has been anticipated. Our departure was very early in the AM but we were treated to personal sacks of delicious thick sandwiches, fruits and beverage to acomodate us on our journey - a very thoughful touch!
We have just returned from a two night stay at Pension Meyer, the Manager was very helpful and went out of his way to recommend what we should do. The room was huge compared to stardard hotels in Slovenia and there was a nice balcany and it was spoteless clean. Highly recommended. The restaraunt in the Hotel is excellent as well.
Wonderful hotel, warm, clean, welcoming. Manager very helpful, and his wife also very friendly- have booked again
Best place ever!!
This place was the most beautiful and best places I have ever stayed at! The manager was brilliant - we wanted to go to Vintgar Gorge and order a taxi - he offered to drive us himself as he was going that way. Everyone was friendly, the breakfast was supurb. Our room was large with a balcony and a view over the lake. The price was also excellant. I would recommend that anybody stay here - you won't be dissapointed.
The place to stay in Bled
We have just spent the Christmas long weekend here and had a wonderful stay. The place has so much character, is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. AND the restaurant is just great....we had an amazing Christmas eve dinner here! I'd definitely stay here again.
Stayed with husband and toddler - no probs in getting a travel cot put in room which was big enough to accommodate it. Clean rooms, good location (10 mins walk to lake and town), great restaurant - big advantage was we could put the child alarm on and go down for a lovely dinner. Breakfast was good too. All in all - a fraction of the price of equivalent hotels.
stayed in the pezion mayer may 2005 with my husband absoloutly delighted with the hotel rooms were spacious very clean and with lovely furniture. my husband was ill on arrival and the hotels owner helped me to obtain medical help for him which we both greatly appreciated.
all the staff were very helpful and attentive. we booked half boardthe breakfasts are delicious and with thomsons that means you only have a limited choice of your main course at the evening meal but if theres nothing that appeals to you they are happy to give you something you like. the restaurant which has an excellant reputation locally is open to the public and can get very busy so you may have to wait for a table at busy times but thats not a problem because you are in such beautiful surroundings. this was our first time in slovenia but we enjoyed it so much we came home and booked to go again in 2006 its such a lovely country and lake bled is so beautiful all in all one of the best weeks we have had anywhere cant rate it highly enough.
Lovely place to stay.Clean, immaculately furnished room.Short walk from the lake.Good breakfast.

... lunchtime which necessitated a bout of indoor activity turning to cabin fever. Fortunately come tea time it had calmed down enough for us to stroll around the picturesque lake and take roughly a zillion photos just as everyone else was doing. We managed to get down as far as Scofja Loca and its tight little centre that wouldn't be hugely unidentifiable to generations of inhabitants. The river, the old town gates, the churches, the streets as ...
... after my sting in Vienna it was Vanessa's turn. I was outside pegging the tent and Vanessa was clipping the inside in when the screaming started. All I could hear was "it's in my shorts!!! It's in my shorts!!" and as I stuck my head in the door I could see Vanessa jumping around, shorts still round one ankle and a big sting right on her ****. Given the ground in most of these countries is rock by this stage we were down to pegging the tent with the 2 straight pegs we ...
... tourists wrapped up to the max in ponchos and umbrellas but that was about it. I didn't swim on my own but I might as well have jumped in, I wouldn't have got any wetter and the lake was probably warmer than the rain! Back to the room we packed up, our flight wasn't until the afternoon and today was not a day for chilling by the lake! So we went to a spa instead. Except it was just a swimming pool with a very small slide, hot pool and outdoor ...
... town. I spent the day walking around much of the city center. I did mention how small it was, so it didn't take much of the day. I started out at Ljubljana castle, which is the center piece of the city. Like many other times, I took the funicular up to the top where there were some great views of the city, and a somewhat hazy view of the Julian Alps in the north. The mountains kind of looked like ...
... kid myself, I’m back in Europe! This was going to be a wild night.
It was like a flashback to 2012. Meeting strangers from all nationalities who love travelling and drinking. Then of course, there was the obnoxious Australian (not me). This guy wanted to lead the group, but nobody really liked him. Still, he somehow managed to convince us to join him at some student party that he’d heard of, and I’m always up ...
