Historical Traveler Reviews Penzion Mayer Bled
I stayed at Penzion Mayer for two nights, but could have easily stayed longer. It is in a gogeous location - very peaceful. Breakfast outside each morning was an absolute delight. (it was lovely weather, but there was the option of eating in the dining room if preferred). The room was very spacious and airy, with a small balcony. The bathroom was quite large. Everything was very clean. Oh, and added bonus - BBC world was a informative change from the normal cable tv available at hotels.
Better than Home Away from Home!
Charming place to stay! Wonderful food and pleasant, personal but not obtrusive service - makes one feel your arrival has been anticipated. Our departure was very early in the AM but we were treated to personal sacks of delicious thick sandwiches, fruits and beverage to acomodate us on our journey - a very thoughful touch!
We have just returned from a two night stay at Pension Meyer, the Manager was very helpful and went out of his way to recommend what we should do. The room was huge compared to stardard hotels in Slovenia and there was a nice balcany and it was spoteless clean. Highly recommended. The restaraunt in the Hotel is excellent as well.
Wonderful hotel, warm, clean, welcoming. Manager very helpful, and his wife also very friendly- have booked again
Best place ever!!
This place was the most beautiful and best places I have ever stayed at! The manager was brilliant - we wanted to go to Vintgar Gorge and order a taxi - he offered to drive us himself as he was going that way. Everyone was friendly, the breakfast was supurb. Our room was large with a balcony and a view over the lake. The price was also excellant. I would recommend that anybody stay here - you won't be dissapointed.
The place to stay in Bled
We have just spent the Christmas long weekend here and had a wonderful stay. The place has so much character, is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. AND the restaurant is just great....we had an amazing Christmas eve dinner here! I'd definitely stay here again.
Stayed with husband and toddler - no probs in getting a travel cot put in room which was big enough to accommodate it. Clean rooms, good location (10 mins walk to lake and town), great restaurant - big advantage was we could put the child alarm on and go down for a lovely dinner. Breakfast was good too. All in all - a fraction of the price of equivalent hotels.
stayed in the pezion mayer may 2005 with my husband absoloutly delighted with the hotel rooms were spacious very clean and with lovely furniture. my husband was ill on arrival and the hotels owner helped me to obtain medical help for him which we both greatly appreciated.
all the staff were very helpful and attentive. we booked half boardthe breakfasts are delicious and with thomsons that means you only have a limited choice of your main course at the evening meal but if theres nothing that appeals to you they are happy to give you something you like. the restaurant which has an excellant reputation locally is open to the public and can get very busy so you may have to wait for a table at busy times but thats not a problem because you are in such beautiful surroundings. this was our first time in slovenia but we enjoyed it so much we came home and booked to go again in 2006 its such a lovely country and lake bled is so beautiful all in all one of the best weeks we have had anywhere cant rate it highly enough.
Lovely place to stay.Clean, immaculately furnished room.Short walk from the lake.Good breakfast.

... bar, Kultur, playing '60's and '70's Rock and filled with young people sitting outside drinking wine/beer and smoking. Deb instantly liked it because the wine was only €1.20 per glass. Dinner was at a nearby traditional Slovenian restaurant, chock full of character. We hopped in the car the next morning and headed northwest to the Julian Alps. Our route would take us through the resort town of Kransjka Gora into the Triglav National Park through mountain passes complete with ...
... admire the beautiful river- especially where it went through a canyon- but then set off over the mountains up to a height of 1700metres or so. The vistas of the mountains was beautiful and the drive though winding, with 50 hairpin bends, was a pretty safe road.
At the top we found some snow and had to go for a walk through the snow. It couldn't be a Sorial summer holiday without some snow!!!

... about noon so after changing into dry clothes we headed off into the town of Bled to find a bakery as recommended by the hostel owner. We finally found the bakery about 10 minutes from the hostel so we picked up 2 meat Bureks and a ricotta cheese burek. As anyone who’s travelled to these parts knows these delicious pasties are a Balkan delight. Later in the trip we found out how these are truly made but I’ll leave that for our Mostar, ...

Then the guide mentioned that there was a fountain for water, and he became fixated on getting water for the next 15-20 minutes. Finally one of the girls gave him her unopened water because he refused to drink from any bottle that had been previously opened. They took a group photo and he stood in front of everyone and blocked the view. It ...

The castle is up on a hill and over looks the city and is surrounded by bush and gardens so we thought we could do with the exercise and would walk up! On the way we stumbled across a church with an interesting door but the church itself didn't look like much. While we were taking pics of the door we realised you could go inside so thought we would be nosy and have a looksie... we were ...
