Historical Traveler Reviews Penzion Mayer Bled
I stayed at Penzion Mayer for two nights, but could have easily stayed longer. It is in a gogeous location - very peaceful. Breakfast outside each morning was an absolute delight. (it was lovely weather, but there was the option of eating in the dining room if preferred). The room was very spacious and airy, with a small balcony. The bathroom was quite large. Everything was very clean. Oh, and added bonus - BBC world was a informative change from the normal cable tv available at hotels.
Better than Home Away from Home!
Charming place to stay! Wonderful food and pleasant, personal but not obtrusive service - makes one feel your arrival has been anticipated. Our departure was very early in the AM but we were treated to personal sacks of delicious thick sandwiches, fruits and beverage to acomodate us on our journey - a very thoughful touch!
We have just returned from a two night stay at Pension Meyer, the Manager was very helpful and went out of his way to recommend what we should do. The room was huge compared to stardard hotels in Slovenia and there was a nice balcany and it was spoteless clean. Highly recommended. The restaraunt in the Hotel is excellent as well.
Wonderful hotel, warm, clean, welcoming. Manager very helpful, and his wife also very friendly- have booked again
Best place ever!!
This place was the most beautiful and best places I have ever stayed at! The manager was brilliant - we wanted to go to Vintgar Gorge and order a taxi - he offered to drive us himself as he was going that way. Everyone was friendly, the breakfast was supurb. Our room was large with a balcony and a view over the lake. The price was also excellant. I would recommend that anybody stay here - you won't be dissapointed.
The place to stay in Bled
We have just spent the Christmas long weekend here and had a wonderful stay. The place has so much character, is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. AND the restaurant is just great....we had an amazing Christmas eve dinner here! I'd definitely stay here again.
Stayed with husband and toddler - no probs in getting a travel cot put in room which was big enough to accommodate it. Clean rooms, good location (10 mins walk to lake and town), great restaurant - big advantage was we could put the child alarm on and go down for a lovely dinner. Breakfast was good too. All in all - a fraction of the price of equivalent hotels.
stayed in the pezion mayer may 2005 with my husband absoloutly delighted with the hotel rooms were spacious very clean and with lovely furniture. my husband was ill on arrival and the hotels owner helped me to obtain medical help for him which we both greatly appreciated.
all the staff were very helpful and attentive. we booked half boardthe breakfasts are delicious and with thomsons that means you only have a limited choice of your main course at the evening meal but if theres nothing that appeals to you they are happy to give you something you like. the restaurant which has an excellant reputation locally is open to the public and can get very busy so you may have to wait for a table at busy times but thats not a problem because you are in such beautiful surroundings. this was our first time in slovenia but we enjoyed it so much we came home and booked to go again in 2006 its such a lovely country and lake bled is so beautiful all in all one of the best weeks we have had anywhere cant rate it highly enough.
Lovely place to stay.Clean, immaculately furnished room.Short walk from the lake.Good breakfast.

... and had them for dessert. We also picked up a piece of grmada, made of cake, rum, milk, custard topped off with whipped cream and strawberry syrup.
Bled has a very relaxing ambiance and we're glad we decided to stay here for a few nights. It really is a beautiful mountain area with majestic scenery.
So, Slovenia ranks very highly in our esteem. It is a very beautiful, interesting country, with wonderful people, and we would be very happy to return in the ...
... in Bled.
Next we walked around the lake starting from a side we haven't seen yet. Along the way we decided to try out the summer toboggan experience. This is a long and curvy rail down the side of a small mountain and going down the rail are individual toboggans. We took the chair lift up and were rewarded with beautiful views of Lake Bled below us. We each took our turn riding down the rails in our toboggans and it was really good fun! Once we ...
... shaky at times. The gorge was about 100m high in parts with strong, ragged cliffs looking down over a very fast flowing river. The river was full and flowing briskly between the walls. At about 5m wide at it’s widest point the river was not huge but was very powerful. You could tell there had been some heavy downpours in the recent past. As we ventured further away from cover the rain became torrential totally soaking Rox and I. We ...
... after only a few of the sights we already had strong feelings for this place, but after spending both days exploring we had now fallen completely in love. It wasn’t just the aesthetically beautiful sites, it was the little things that make the city tick. For example, the main “must do” sights, which are normally reserved for tourists, double up as forever changing art galleries. This gives the site a rejuvenated feel, as each time a ...
... train to Ljubljana so settled down for the trip. Then another backpacker asked me the same question - I confirmed it was. She went through to another carriage but came running back a few minutes later saying it wasn't. It was a made scramble to get off, along with about 10 others. God knows where I might be now if I had stayed on the train.
Ljubljana is quite small - well the central area anyway. Has an old town but this time ...
