... the euro. I can't blame them really. From what i could gather, Poland was becoming more and more expensive, yet wages hadn't kept pace. It was a similar story in most of eastern Europe. The barbecue Anita's uncle put on that afternoon was by far the best meal I have had in years. It was just barbied bits of flesh, but the meat was so tender and delicious. Something hard to find back in London.

Three days went quickly, and before we knew it ...

Jelenia Gora & Magical Mountains

Jelenia Góra ('deer mountain') is about couple of hours south from Wroclaw (trains or buses). It is close to the Karkonosze mountain range running along the Polish-Czech border. Only 10-15 km of the town there are few ski resorts such as Karpacz, Szklarska Poreba.
Nice, colorful Market Square, Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theatre, Saint Cross Church, the Old Town are just few places worth of seeing.

Czech'in it all out

... the week was fairly chilled out we could have headed straight to Warsaw over the next few days to visit my family in Poland but they suggested to come the week after when there was a birthday party on, so it would be easier to catch up with everyone in one go. This meant we had quite a bit of time to spend in the region and our plan was just to take our time in Czech and maybe go to south Poland before we headed north to Warsaw.

We spent the rest of the ...

al the former eastern bloc countries make for good travel,, but the one that i return to is the czech republic,, mainly to the north [north bohemia],liberec, harrochov, cesky raj, but a trip or two to moravia is also worth taking,,. during the communist times it was an eye opener, now also as the people wish for the return of those times, they knew where their bread was coming from, and the upgrades fron old skoda to super fast motorcars,, ah they stilll are crazy on the roads

Vikend v Liberci

Tento vikend sme s kamosmi v Liberci na severe Ciech. Prisli sme sem rovno zo San Diega, tak je to trochu teplotny sok. Ked sme s Dzozim odchadzali zo San Diega bolo krasnych 26 stupnov, ale ked sme prisli do Liberca bolo len okolo desat stupnov a poriadny vietor. Ale ako sa hovori, poriadne planovanie robi ...

... little tent (and man, do I mean little) is not only really really little, but it is also really waterproof. And I can honestly say that it is actually a decent tradeoff. But actually, my whole point is to answer a question that has come up a few times: What am I reading when I stretch out at night in our really really teeny tine tent? I find that good books are like gold when traveling. Despite their weight, I try to always have at ...

back in Poland!!!!!!!

... that most of people travel to Poland through Germany, which was pointless for us. Therefore we took another bus to H... something, and from there we hitchhiked twice to Szklarska Poreba. Finally at home! Well, almost. Afterwards we took a Polish coach to Jelenia Gora and from there we had a journey straight towards home - to Wroclaw and Opole. We wanted to spend the upcoming night in our own beds, that`s why the last ...

... clouded over, and the town was virtually empty, giving it a strange feel. The rynek was nice enough, like any Polish town, although the cappuccinos we had in one of the restaurants certainly weren't. It was quite possibly the worst I'd had in my entire time in Europe, and with some shady characters making their way inside we decided to make a move. Swidnica was actually home to a UNESCO world heritage listed wooden church, and supposedly the birthplace of the German WWI flying ace known ...

... sure how this happened, obviously I haven't been looking after him properly, which is one of his favourite catch phases. So 4 loads of washing, one dryer, charged by the hour, and its 14 degrees so not the best weather for drying. Washing really has become a obsession of mine, it's a war, you have to focus and be ruthless with all your competitors, this is not about making friends people, this is about survival of the fittest). Victory at last for ...

Camping in Czech Republic

... is not going to help his reluctancy! We find our campsite and set up. We will stay for 3 nights and explore the area. The camping only went from bad to worse: Our air mattress had a hole, Tom's throat began hurting and the rain continued! This was not my ideal manner of introducing him to cheap accomodation and the joys ofcamping! We have a few days to relax, hike and soak in the mountain air. We took ...
