... concrete lock with a submarine in it. The guide had talked about the canal and lock but they didn't realise it still existed. We hotfooted it back to the hostel to do some research. We spent the night in the SS barracks at the Wolf's Lair. This was not as bad as it first sounds, since the old building has been converted into a hostel of questionable quality.

Having gone to bed very late to make use of the beautiful room they than got up early to go to the Baltic Sea. The city is not right by the sea but there are lots of docks there as Gdansk has been a port for hundreds of years.
