Day 4:
It is Day 4 and we have filled up our surgery schedule for the remainder of the week. In past years, we fill up on the 1st day, but the surgical candidate turnout has been a little lower than normal so it has taken longer this year. We have started taking patients for next year's mission.
Apparently, word has gotten out that the American doctors are in town and the clinic crowds have picked up. Our group has seen about 120-130 patients per day this ...
Day 0 - And they're off....
... is usually a lively crowd and we drink some wine and beer and enjoy each other’s company. The group bonds very well quickly and now we are a family for the coming days. The camaraderie that develops during the short trip is amazing. Back in the US, we are all professionals from various backgrounds and experiences. Here in Romania, all the titles disappear. We are here for a common purpose and we all help each other.

Bucovina Serenity
... to Sighet and others I’ve driven through (at a glance). The next morning I took off to see the monasteries and the town of Suceava. It is a very pleasant rural drive again, dominated by small towns set amidst alpine terrain, people still carrying tools to the fields, and horse carts everywhere. There is clearly more money here.
