Casual start to the morning with a croissant and coffee for breakfast, followed by 6 hours walking around Old Town Genoa. The sights around the upper end are much better than the port, we sat on the steps of a church for half an hour and did some people watching.

... Debanchi Ristoranti. Lovely anchovie and zuchini linguini for first course followed by carpaccio with tomato insalata and a glass of vino bianca.

Stopped into a Basilica on the way back to the hotel so Cheryl could repent her sins of days past, that killed a couple of hours!

A stroll around the Porto in the evening finishing with a refreshing gelato. Still very warm and humid.

... up and down at least 5 times before she was comfortable and had a toilet stop later in the trip. Highly amusing but harmless enough. We arrived in Genoa and got a taxi to our hotel. I think the driver saw us coming as he charged us 15euro for 1km trip. We have stayed in a lot of boutique places that are in these old buildings that have been fitted out on one floor. Today we were on the 6th floor and we were thankful ...

While we aren't going to put hotel guests and residents in the same building, we are going to tie the buildings together to sort of have one building, but a little separation. Another thing with the terracing is that it mimics the topography, both natural and architectural, of the city. 3. embrace the harbor. We want to extend the public's access to the water. We did it by a promenade, but the suggestion came back to pull the harbor up into the buildings. ...

... and leave for the French Riviera. We barely had enough time to get Chris tickets for the first train from Genoa to Ventimiglia and had to run to catch our train. The line in the train station in Ventimiglia was totally appalling and there was no way for us to make our connection, so we just got on the train and Chris got a ticket from the conductor. Glad that worked out okay... will post again from Nice in a few days! ...
