... was one where the king of all Sea Lions (think Shamu) just stood there flexing and no one even dared to challenge him. I probably could have sat and stared at the Sea Lions and listened to their barking ( I think that’s the proper term but who knows). ... in the USA. The USA has a massive private prison system which I got the feeling was a good money spinner - may contribute to the high prison numbers. Up until the mid 1970's, the prison rate was almost constant from the beginning of the 1900's but since then has exploded. There was no explanation why. I can't help but wonder drugs? family breakdown? private prisons? ..................
Anyway, it was a fascinating visit.
... a tiny amount on one peak. However this also made the day trip much warmer. But when I say warmer, I mean around 9 degrees Celsius, which I was prepared for. Our first stop was the rare and giant Sequoia trees, also some of the oldest trees in the world. A round trip walk of about an hour, along a good path down and then back up hill, took as past about 6 Sequoia trees. I felt like a dwarf, or perhaps Hobbit ;-) next to these things. ... and even though he never feels like fish he said the meal was one going to be on the top of his list. Vanessa and I enjoyed Bloody Mary's with lunch and then we browsed some of the local shops and art galleries. I purchased a few souvenirs and we saw some really cool original Dr Suess drawings. I loved Sausalito and could have stayed there all day looking through the beautiful shops all on the bay ...
... and gelato, was extremely excited about this culinary find. After our ice cream feast Billy officially ranked their vanilla ice cream higher than frosty boy and vanilla bean connoisseur!!! I know cray cray but it happened!!!
Merry Christmas! It's day 12 and today we head from Santa Barbara to San Francisco!!! It is about 5 hours drive so we decided to head on the coastal scenic route to stop in and visit our mate Clint Eastwood at Carmel ...
