Markt 48 St. Wolfgang, Upper Austria, Austria, 5360, 2261
... misty valleys and along sides of mountains, looking down on tiny towns below. The little houses in Austria are like chalets and look a lot like the homes in Switzerland. There is already a bit of snow in some of the villages that are a bit higher up.
Salzburg was a cute city and bigger than I thought it was going to be. It was nice to see anothertown in Austria, other than the capital city. We didn't have to ...
... punks... and surprise, they were super cute and loved to help us... I called them Peter Pan and my Lost Boys!! We arrived at the Hotel and booked our Sound of Music tour, it left at 9 am the next morning, so we called it a night and got up early to have a super good free breakfast and go on the the tour...
The tour lady was super cute... she was just like KB, she loved to sing ...
... we jumped in the van with all the other tourists...there were 8 of us in total, and headed to see the spots and scenes that you see in the movie the Sound of Music. I hadn't seen it in quite a while so I'll have to watch it when I get home to compare! But we were also able to see the gazeebo that is in the movie when they sing the song I am 16 going on 17...pretty cool. We took tons of pictures, and a lot of them were in the areas ...
Salzburg, Austria kkb-myadventure... they filmed The Sound of Music around this area, and let me tell you, they were not greenscreening anything, people. This place is gorgeous! I think it had even Bruges beat on being picturesque. Winding streets, blue skies, cute shops, and the Alps. Seriously, how am I going to go back to Illinois after scenery like this?
Anyway, we started off our visit by taking a funicular ride up to the fortress, which ...
... was really cool, and I think a good change from all the castles, at least for my boyfriend. The tour takes you through various sections of a working salt mine and at the end we were given a small shaker of salt from Hallstatt. The funnest part was definitely the slides. They are quite long and we could go in groups of three so of course we did. On the last slide the tour group had a speed ...
Hallstatt, Upper Austria, Austria travelingdiva... the DVD (I had one of the teachers tape it). The acts performed included an appearance by the Spice Girls, a few Latin American songs, a crazy dance, a totally surprising monologue from Hamlet by the "class clown" of the group, a sligtly altered game of Simon Says, a Brazilian dance, and an encore performance of the final dance from "Dirty Dancing" by two of our teachers (who happened to be sisters, btw). On Saturday, basically the last day of language camp, we went to a ...
Altmünster, Austria macfield... it’s only appropriate that I have some clean towels and sheets for them (if I do as much for couchsurfers, I should probably make the effort for the family too!) Aaron and I do a little Christmas shopping around town and I buy some groceries and other provisions before the Christmas closures.
On Saturday I wake up before the sun to take a train to Dresden for the day. Because I bought the cheap ticket, it takes forever to get there ...
Hi all Today we had a later wake up call and after breakfast we got away on our drive towards Salzburg in Austria. It was to be a long drive as we had to leave Hungary and go across most of Austria. The weather was great as usual. When we got to the Hungarian border we were again individually checked for the passports and they were stamped by the officer in the bus. This officer was much friendlier and even smiled. It took almost 45minutes and then we were away. 30 ...

We left Kitzbuhel at 8:30. There was a brief stop in Berchtesgarden, in Germany, at 10:00. Up on the side of the mountain, we could see Hitler's Eagle’s Nest. It was rather chilling to see that part of history. The bunker is now a restaurant. Our rest stop overlooked a valley filled with wonderful homes. What a view! Back on the bus and on to Salzburg. Time 10:35.
... there was no way they were going to do justice to this building. When we were finished at the Cathedral, we took a walk through the shopping district, with its narrow, winding streets. It was such a rush being here. There was so much to see and do, but there just was not enough time for everything. I guess we’ll just have to come back again and see the sights we missed this time around ...
