    ... 8211;
    turns out it was 90 degrees off and out of the door on the concourse – staff didn’t
    seem to think that was a problem. Had I known (I should have guessed) how
    expensive left luggage would be (£5 for a locker) and the fact there were no
    direct buses to the historic centre – all seemed to go via urban terminals ½ east

    ... front to the fish market. Jamily had told us about it as you chose your fish, shrimps in our case, and then go next door to the restaurant and they cook them for you. We did well that night as Helen and I polished off 1kg of shrimp! And it was really cheap - I think the equivalent of £5 for 1kg of freshly caught shrimp, delicious. New place new friends. Fortaleza was cool because right when I got there we went out. Some Chileans brought a big bottle of pisco and before you know it we all were riding happy on the way to pink elephant. It's a popular expensive night club they have here in Brazil. Anyways the next several days it was pretty much the same. Fortaleza to me seems a little rough and unsafe. I'll admit I had a good time here and my portuguese is getting ...

    ... was an early start for our bus to Belo Horizonte for the final England game, and due to our night out we slept most of the journey. Checked into a hostel just in time for the start of the third Brazil match and watched it in a nearby boteco with local Brazilians. Good news that they won and the town turned to partying with music, samba dancing and fireworks being heard all around. The following morning we met Reema and Simon, checked out the main square - Savassi in ...

    Today we were back watching footy on TV so it's a nice warm walk down to La Habanero Café for some ice cold SKOL in our favourite little watering hole. There is not much about proper pubs that I can’t appreciate. In almost every culture where they are permitted they form a cornerstone of the community because they provide an essential service. This little place is no different. Today a smattering of tourists mixed in with a taxi driver or two, a guy who ...
