... Although the cathedral looks ancient and the original portion is from the 14th century, it was only finished in 1929. Notable sights inside the church were the underground tombs of ancient Czech kings, the St. Wenceslas Chapel and the baroque tomb of St. John of Nepomuk, which is made of 2 tonnes of silver! We also climbed 287 steps up a spiral staircase to the top of the bell tower to enjoy magnificent 360 degree views of Prague. The staircase made me dizzy so every so often ...

... the 1400 (or somewhere around then) and it was amazing it had two different times roman and one other, a dial that would tell you what position the moon was in (like when it was a full moon/ quarter moon etc) and then it also had a zodiac hand so it told you what zodiac month we were in and yup you guessed it we are in LEO!!! We also visited the palace / castle area and that was lovely it was up on the top of the hill and gazed down on the city below, ...

... reasonable places for a good meal, and where to get the best views without having to pay for them. He was a funny Irish chap. I walked in front so I could hear him and if he stopped and I didn't realise he would say 'Australia come back here'. When the tour was finished we headed back to our Hotel to cool down, it has been quite warm and each day we add to our sunburn a little. I suppose you can't sit on top of a sightseeing bus or boat ...

... oppression. We were all moved by their recollections of how eager people living under Communism were to do what we all at Skidmore are lucky enough to do every day -- LEARN and study and debate and ask and try to answer the big questions about life. Their experience and enthusiasm reminded us not to take for granted the amazing opportunities we have as students, teachers, and live human beings living in conditions of freedom !

... and well, boy, we have had nightmares since then. Hopefully the pictures can attempt to convey what lay before our eyes in the little church! After ducking over the impressive UNESCO church we headed into the town to have a look around an explore. However as the dark closed in on us we decided to save a coin or two and catch the bus back, truely a rare experience public buses are.
