... pan and cook our first dinner this week, so not all bad.

in karlovy vary we buy the teeniest tiniest cup and try some water from every fountain. some taste like blood and we wonder if we have reached dracula country early. oh well, at least we will probably live a few extra years according to the, ah hem, medical advice.
Karlovy Vary, Karlovarský Kraj, Czech Republic l_i_s_a_c... the whole hotel is empty! We get room 16 on the 3rd floor. We go up to see it and when we open the door it smells of smoke, so we go back down to ask for a non-smoking room. We are now on the 1st floor in a non-smoking room. It is huge. All the furniture looks hand-crafted.

We notice the man has several large ...
Marktredwitz, Bavaria, Germany dancejill... br>We leave and go to see the colonnades, these are fancy walkways with pillars that have little fountains where the thermal water comes out. People are walking along with fancy china cups. The handles are really spouts to drink the water from. They go to the water taps, fill their cups and stroll along drinking the water. The water is warm and at some stops hot water.

We bought a very tiny cup and tried the water. I ...
Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, Czech Republic dancejill... sausages for lunch. Was half cut - half a litre of beer with jetlagg...interesting combination.

Flew from Prague on the dodgiest little plane, Jarrad was pulling sticky tape off the cabin and announcing outloud that we might not make it alive. Hmmmmm they also made the mistake of asking him to complete the customer survey...

Went out on the bikes yesterday to explore town. Amazing - bus loads of tourists arrive here daily. Photos don't do it justice.
Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, Czech Republic sharmandjarrad... then enjoyed a lunch of duck, dumplings and sweet and sour cabbage. I swear Greece and Czech Republic have the best food in the world. I am going to miss it. We will return tomorrow to Amsterdam to connect with our flight home. We are hoping to make the Anne Frank museum if the lines are not too long.
Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, Czech Republic tdennissteel... tale town, but it was so windy we couldn't stay long. The only way up or down was on an old squeeky elevator since they were re-painting the stairs so we had to wait like a herd od sheep to squeeze into it. Yesterday took us to a REAL castle, 750 years old and just like a fairy tale surrounded by a river moat. It was complete with torture chambers and dungeons,( our favorite part and the best haunted house ever!) and a tower to keep the princesses safe-pics to ...
Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic polloslibre... mother working 3 jobs and now overfeeds everyone (out of love, of course), she laid out a major spread for us and kept the food coming, and coming, and coming, you get the picture. Of course it is considered offencive to decline this generosity so needless to say I did not feel too well that night and had a restless nights sleep. After a couple of days in Prague, my uncle Otto (my dad's brother) came from Karlovy Vary to pick us up ...
Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, Czech Republic polloslibre... charm, but with a patina of decay, the legacy of communism and several subsequent political unheavals. This country has one of the most fascinating political histories and we look forward to learning more as we explore. We are already crashing our way through Slavic Languages 101. I was getting a little cocky in Germany, where I was starting to get by pertty well after only a week, because there are enough similarities to English to start connecting dots. Well, THAT has certainly ...
