... time being anyways.
When we got to the train station...well it was pitch black outside. So we decided to hang out at the train station for a bit till it started to get light outside. Our first mission was going to be finding a bank...we had no Swiss Franks to use at all...so we needed a bank. One it hit 7 or so we decided to start finding our way to our hostel. We stepped outside...it was beautiful! The Alps in the background, the ...

... the name). We were told it was really pretty up there and the shoppin was good... well they had one thing right... it was really pretty, but the shoppin was non existent... be that it was november and in between busy seasons everything was closed... but it was still fun to walk around and take some pictures!
We got back in the afternoon, we went and got some groceries and made a wicked stir-fry for dinner and had an early night ...

Channeling Maria Von Trapp

... is a mountain that rises 9,748' above sea level. At it's peak sits a restaurant called "Piz Gloria"'. Now a restaurant at the top of this dramatic overlook, which gives you a view to the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau peaks (all in excess of 13,000' and snow-covered, would be spectacular enough. However evidently the Swiss wanted more drama, so they also made it revolve. For those of you who are 007 fans, the restaurant was "blown up ...

andy and his guide, benny, took a gandola up the mountain and then paraglided down. he let andy steer, but quickly took back control after andy steered them almost into the waterfall. after the paragliding, we traveled to murren which is one of the highest cities located on the moutain...the scenery was awesome and we took a nap on a hill overlooking the surrounding snow-capped mountains and town.

Hello Alps

... is about as long as a football field, the co-op grocery market has a brisk monopolized business and most shops hawking Swiss trinkets are opened in the morning and late afternoon because the lack tourist in the off season doesn't merit anymore. Plenty of cows though. It's the perfect picture of alpine Switzerland. Its next door neighbor, the village of Gimmelwald, is even smaller. They have about 120 residents and almost all of ...

A Wizz in the Alps

... by the Trummelbach falls on the way.. Well, we managed to do it and it took a good 6 hours total of walking - mainly downhill, through pine forests, next to rivers and streams that still had some melting snow, past waterfalls and lush farmland. The downhill walking sure is bad on the knees and ankles!! On the way down to Stechelbach, we came across one section of the track which were sign posted with warnings of ...

On top of the World!

... Potato Rosti at the Stagerstubli.. The fondue wasn't really my type of thing as it had way too much alcohol in it to even taste the cheese, but the rosti was delicious though. After dinner, we decided to do a load of washing, it took over 2 hours to wash and dry our clothes. It was hysterical when we walked/ran back to the chalet in the dark in our thongs. Brian looked like the grinch tip-toeing through the streets with a bag of stolen toys or something..

Swiss Alps Hiking Adventure #2

... then hike back down to Allmendhubel Funicular. It was to be a long, but beautiful day. The ride from Murren up to Birg is insanely scary. At least for me it was. The Swiss are crazy, engineering geniuses. The car moves you up about 3,000 feet. Towards the end of the ride, you are facing a cliff wall with Birg Station sitting above you. It seems like an impossible climb. Then, at what feels like the very last ...

Welcome to paradise on earth! i cannot even ...

... which peaks at 4,158 meters. I left six days of rain behind me when I got to Interlaken. It couldn´t have been more ideal. From the train station, I walked straight to Balmer´s Herberge, another one of Europe´s Famous Five hostels. It has the atmosphere of a university residence during Frosh week. It was my second time there and I felt right at home. All guests were kids in their ...
