... and surrounding parklands are very popular with tourists and hikers. In addition, the lake's position surrounded by sheer rock walls creates an echo known for its clarity. On our boat tour we stopped and the captain played a trumpet to demonstrate the echo. The trumpeter plays along with the returning sounds so it sounds like as many as seven players. We are heading out to Klais tomorrow. Several hours of ...

Great views but we went a little too far up the mountain and ended up near some private houses further up the hill. After a nice Bavarian supper we headed home, trying to beat the dark as there are few street lights anywhere. Lil made 19944 steps today (Bitfit ...

It didn't take long to drive the 20kms into Salzburg and cross the border into Austria for the first time. You always notice a difference because the street signs change and there are always a few border shops, but no passport controls anymore. We had to navigate through the maze of one way streets to find the hostel, which is actually normally a Lehrerhaus except for the summer break.

Nevertheless, it was a big day!
