Historical Traveler Reviews of Pension Nossek Vienna
Magical stay - not for everyone though
from FreshBagel
Pension Nossesk was a magical place for us, with all the charm that we could dream of. A grand staircase, a bird-cage elevator... However, it's not for everyone. If you need all the modern comfort, stay in a hotel. But if you want a comfortable, convenient location that has old world charm, I think you will like it.
It does lack air-conditioning, so you need to be aware of it if you go during summer.
Tolle Lage und Frühstück im Bett!
from MG72
Unschlagbare Lage, liebenswertes Zimmer, freundlicher Service
from aynstein
No Hot Water, definitely "no frills"
from Iggles_P
We stayed at the Nossek in April 2006. Read many good reviews and were expecting a "no frills" but still good, clean Pension with the basic services. The major problem was that out of 7 days, we did not once have hot water in the morning. The explanation: "we only have one hot water heater for the hotel" (what century is this?!). The breakfast was very basic--the same two kinds of cold cuts and the same two kinds of cheese every morning, with no variety and not much choice. Even though there is a wait staff during breakfast, they seemed entirely overwhelmed by their jobs and on many occasions we had to go get our own coffee, etc. This place would have been OK if we hadn't been paying 139 EUR per night--definitely not worth that price. It's the kind of Pension that hasn't been updated in 20+ years, and the owners try to provide as little service as possible, for as much money as possible. It didn't strike me as a quaint, charming old place, more like a dingy, creeky old establishment stuck in post-WWII Austria. The place's only plus is a good location, although there are many other B&Bs in the area. We won't stay at the Nossek again.
Unbeatable location, lovely room, friendly service
from aynstein
Out of the 7 hotels that we stayed at during out 3-week European tour, Pension Nossek was definately our favorite. The room was very large by European standards and comfortable, with beautiful antique furniture and separate rooms for the shower and sink/toilet, which we found convenient for getting ready. The location is absolutely unbeatable - right at the center of town near St. Stephan's Cathedral and a lot of great restaurants, but the room was still very quiet. The management was also very friendly and helpful. The breakfast could have been better, but overall this is an excellent value - I'd recommend highly.
Great location, and breakfast in bed!
from MG72
We stayed 4 nights at Pension Nossek, which provides no-frills accommodation but with great charm. For us, the highlight was the first morning (being late risers) we missed breakfast - so they called the room and asked if we would like it brought up to us instead. I have never stayed in a hotel before which noticed that you had missed breakfast! Location also excellent for on-foot exploring but don't expect a TV or tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Perfect location
from wendi
THis family owned Pension is on Graben street, the pedestrian shopping street in the heart of Vienna. Big clean room with king bed (2 twins combined) and fully white down duvets and pillows. Spotless bath with lots of hot water in shower. lovely big windows opening onto street. No AC so probably hot in the summer.
Nice Austrian breakfast included and helpful front desk staff.
Have sent clients in the past and would return
Great pension

My husband and I have stayed at the Nossek several times and have been very happy with it. Fabulous location and if you ask for a room with a view of the Graben it's certainly wort the extra cost. For me, the only drawback is lack of air conditioning which can be quite uncomfortable in the middle of summer.
Pension Nossek is wonderful
from 123LetsGo
I almost hate disclosing this information because it would be great to keep Pension Nossek a secret... My husband and I spent three great nights at the Pension Nossek, which is located in the heart of Vienna, at a very reasonable price. Our room overlooked the Grabben with cafes, horse drawn carriages and street musicians playing Mozart below us. (In fact, Mozart lived this building for a few years!) Our room was large and clean, but lacked air conditioning but the management provided us with a fan to keep us comforable at night. The owners speak English and were very helpful in providing restaurant and tour information. We highly recommend Pension Nossek and will stay there again.
A Nice Night in the Middle of the City

As a single female traveler I was looking for something comfortable, afordable, and safe. I found all three at Pension Nossek. The rooms were well appointed with everything from writing desks to down comforters. The location was beyond compare. Right on the Graben it was just a short walk to most of the sights of Vienna. My only reservation was that by myself the ride up to the fourth foor could be a little desolate, but overall it is an excellent choice!
