... br>
At one point in our wandering, we somehow ended up in the midst of a PSD+PC campaign rally. Elections were to be held on Sunday, and people were walking together, jollily shouting their slogans, and smiling for photographs and video. We were given literature which told us for whom we should vote for the European Parliament.

It was here that we had the most colossal donner ever! These donner were heaped ...
Brasov, Transylvania, Romania cutiebanana... truckers, even madder bus drivers and dead dogs. However for every mountain we saw we saw a dozen derelict factories, two dozen shanty towns and three dozen dead dogs. The air nearly everywhere smells, from traffic fumes, from industry, from waste tips, from sewage filled streams or from rotting dead dogs. Overall I would sum up Romania as being a few really wonderful spots linked by hundreds of miles of desolation ...

Brasov, Romania gazalache... to it. Inside this tiny 10 x 10ft tree hut were 7 children sitting on one bed. At the other side was another bed where the parents slept. The house smelled really bad. The children looked wild with their messy hair and raggy clothes. They all had the most amazing huge eyes though. So after seeing all of this, I now understand why they leave their babies in the hospital longer than they really need to. Even though I was shocked at that yesterday, its a damn site better than they have at ...
Brasov, Romania dicooper10ok so first of all.. dont worry. im fine. if i really dont want to be here i will leave. so stop stressing out. we spent the rest of the day yesterday hanging around in town finding all the important things like the post office, sim card for my phone and the pubs. We left the office here around midday and had to be back at 4 for a meeting. We walked around for a while then stopped for a couple of beers. It was getting close to 4 and we still had some things to do before going ...
Brasov, Romania dicooper10... hill. They could only drive halfway up so had to walk from there. The wind was a bit too strong so had to wait a bit and then it was still too strong for me to go it alone so I got hooked up to John again. We walked halfway up the hill and the wind was in the wrong direction so hew said it required us running backwards and a bit sideways. Not an easy task when you're hooked to the front of someone else! A few falls, and what I'm sure will be bruises, later and we were up in the ...
Brasov, Transylvania, Romania lindsaym... of horse-drawn wagons. Women are driving cows to pasture. People are lined up in other fields picking up and sacking the potatoes that a tractor has just furrowed out of the ground. I feel like sleeping, but resist because I don't want to miss any of the passing beauty. Before long we head into the Bicaz Gorges, carved through about 1,000 feet of limestone by a seemingly gentle river. Our guide has the driver stop at one point, and tells us we will begin walking. We can't ...
Brasov, Romania wareameye... so they can continue to make the tour better. If we left it all to the end, we would forget it so whenever we have something that we feel would improve the tour, we are welcome to tell the crew. Of course, if there is something huge we feel should be reiterated at the end, then we have a feedback form to fill in as well. So we told Katie, that 3 hours in Bucherest was too long... maybe 2 hours (as we had a very thorough driving tour the day before) and then ...
Brasov, Romania tokyo_cate... it was up north. For one thing, it's drier, so it's not as green; for another, the mountains had given way to smaller, uninsteresting hills. It's fascinating to watch all the people on the trains. The only train I've tacken so far that wasn't mostly full, I think, was the one -- actually no, they've all been mostly full. And in Romania, they're not just full, they're often packed! Where are they all going? There are about 22 million ...
Brasov, Romania gadelle... in a 25 hour period of time. Which would have been perfectly fine if the trains were air conditioned. Since they weren't we sat there trying to stay perfectly still so as to not work up too much of a sweat. We arrived in Brasov at 5:30am, and arranged accommodation in a private home. Brasov is in the heart of Transylvania, and is an ideal location for day trips, as there are several towns of interest within 2 hours from Brasov. It has been overcast and rainy, which is ...
