... TV news in Britain . Our first glimpse of the place is a surprise. Descending from the motorway, we catch a quick view of a long, sunny, sandy bay with a promenade. We have chosen our hotel, Hotel Termas Marinas El Palasiet, because it looks easy to find, appears clean and comfortable and has access to parking. Since we are only one night customers, we expect that we may be given an ordinary room. What a surprise! ...

... We are moving on tomorrow but most of these guys are staying through till the end of March. There is every manner of people here from amazingly diverse backgrounds, even a foreign diplomat! The majority are retired. This is what makes this place so damn interesting. It's not just the places you see, the food you experience, the place you lay your head for the night......people are what makes travelling interesting....the people you meet!

... cycleway that runs all the way along the beach to the next town Castellon, 10 km away. The campsite also run a full entertainment programme, including Spanish lessons, Spanish cooking lessons, pétanque and regular trips to the likes of Valencia and Barcelona. There is a restaurant onsite where they do a great Sunday roast for just 5 Euro; in fact, you can have a three course meal for 10 Euro if you are really hungry!

... city square, which was starting to fill up with tourists, lunch goers and pigeons.

We continued to wander the streets, till we got to the large city park. Spanich families were entertaining their children on the swings – children Ethan's age were playing soccer, their skills amazing.

We caught the bus back to the ship for an afternoon ...

We thought this morning that after a lazy few days we ought to explore the surrounding area, so we decided on Peniscola, some 20 miles up the coast which had been recommended by our Dutch neighbours.
