Split - quiet but good weather

... beach again as it was such a nice day.
Walked to Marjan Forest Park and hired bikes and rode around park. Some pretty steep hills but awesome views from the top of the park and heaps fun going back down.
Went back to Fife for dinner since it was so awesome and so cheap and had tripe and roast veal.
Fife is some of the best and best value food I've had in ages. Especially compared to most of the other touristy places in Split

What we thought would be a vacation...

... chilled out and went to bed.

Of course what we didn’t know is that the next day, the island was going to experience a full on storm. We were told it might rain a little that day, but raining a little was a big understatement. From the time we woke up the next morning until after we left two days later, it was POURING down rain and VERY windy. We were house-bound for 2 days. The only time we went out was one evening when the rain ...

... an hour as they swam amongst the few boats. The sun has been shining all day and we have done absolutely nothing! After breakfast we walked down to the beach, which is just a short walk from where we have parked at the campsite. Then, we played a board game and had lunch, followed by going for a swim in the ocean and relaxing on the rocks. We are about to catch the ferry from our campsite into the small town of Trogir; we can ...

How did Polish and Serbian girls rock Croatia

When we arrived with the tender to the beautiful land of Croatia and my crazy cabin mate Mili, said:"I feel like I`m coming home..". Nevermind Mili is Serbian hehe. We were shooting the gangway like crazy, were off to see Split already before 11. We roamed around this cute town, went to eat lunch ...

Split and the Splitting head.

... distance you can cruise liners who dock for the day or night for the splurging cruisers from around the world. Its a beautiful sight to see the lights from all kinds of different sources give the water the glow it has at night. After spending some good time exploring every nook and cranny of the space, I realized that I had actually not eaten all day. So being efficient about such things as I am, I grabbed what I can only describe as the biggest slice of pizza I have ...

World Heritage City of Split

... finally!) and head back out to another part of the city. I decided to climb the many steps to the Marjan Park and enjoy an overview of the city. It's definitely a workout but worth the effort. There were a lot of people for a Friday and 95% were speaking Croatian. What is going on? Duh, it is May 1 - Labor Day for most European countries - everyone is off. Once I made it to the top (not quite I found out later), there were TONS of people, food ...

Split, just a stop over!!

... and James that evening so we all decided to go out for a bite to eat. A restaurant that was recommended to me in Vienna and then again when we got to Split. I had the pan fried Squid and loved every bite of it. The seafood in Croatia is incredible to say the least. The next day was taken up by a nice hike up to the the top of the ...

Looking like George Hamilton (Not a good thing!)

When I woke up today, I put on my white T SHirt. I havent worn a whote T-Shirt in quite a while so when I saw myself in the mirror I was just shocked. My skin looks ORANGE! My face is so dark that I think I am starting to look like some kind of freak. I knew I was dark but I didnt realize how dark until I put on my white T-Shirt. I am definitely going to stick to the shade for the next litthe while ...

More from Dalmatia

... a note about the map pins: I've gotten some comments from some of you that some of the pins from various entries are in the wrong spot. I should mention that with the exception of major cities, which are on the maps, I'm placing these map pins manually, estimating rather than pinpointing the locations. I'm doing the best I can, and I should say that some of you are quite the perfectionists (you know who you are). Till next time!

"Hey Lady, do you need a room?"

Rijeka, Zadar, Plitvicka Lakes, Split, Trogir, Hvar, Dubrovnik 09/09/04 - 17/09/04 Well ended up going to Rijeka by chance as it was one of the only places we could get to from Slovenia, by train, that would fit into our time schedule.....boy the border crossings prove to be difficult - one country couldn't care less if you are trying to get into another. And the train trip wasn't one of the best as we had to stand for about an hour as there was apparently no seats. Upon my ...
