... stronghold. Today it is a prosperous and vibrant city.   We rode through heavy traffic out of town which was very slow going. It was estimated that we would reach our destination by 3pm and have some time to look around. The distance between the villages in these parts is not great and on several occasions the end of one village sign was beside the sign desgnating the beginning of the next. Some villages have marked speed signs for 40km or 30km, while if ...

6am came around far too quickly this morning; I was a hot, sweaty, grumpy mess who really did not want to get up. After constantly being harassed by Sophie, I eventually got up and ready for the day. ... lunch, so we ate in the car, which I am sure didn't help anyone's mood. The drive then continued up higher into the mountains to the pass between Solvakia and the Czech Rebublic, where visibility was very limited, and the Slovak plows were very active (didn't see as many Czech plows). Except for the blizzard conditions, crossing the border was a let down - crossing the border in the US holds significantly more fanfare with large ...

Eventful first night in Brno which is the 2nd largest city in Czech Republic. We stayed in a small modern hotel in a not so good area of town - actually next door to a brothel! However the hotel was great. That night we went to a restaurant downstairs with Czech musicians playing. The Locals were joining in singing and dancing. It was a wonderful atmosphere. Again ...
