... so a lot of people in Split would have gone back to their villages or home town for the weekend.
Also explains why the graves in Zagreb looked so good the day too.
Went to Gaga which the barman at the first bar said if any place would be busy, that place would be and it was dead.

Saturday walked around the market, got Burek for breakfast and then up a bunch of stairs to get a good look over Split.
Such a beautiful ...
Split, Croatia richlum... chilled out and went to bed.

Of course what we didn’t know is that the next day, the island was going to experience a full on storm. We were told it might rain a little that day, but raining a little was a big understatement. From the time we woke up the next morning until after we left two days later, it was POURING down rain and VERY windy. We were house-bound for 2 days. The only time we went out was one evening when the rain ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia mdaaAfter we left the park, the drive down to where we are now was spectacular, although a bit different than I pictured Croatia to be-it is a lot rockier and a bit more like what we thought Greece would be like. Our second campsite was just before the town of Zadar in a town called Nin; we pulled in and this funny little man came up to us-there was no way we could say no to his smiling face even if the campsite was horrible! Luckily ...
Seget Vranjica, Splitsko-Dalmatinska, Croatia armajor7... an average of 10hrs a day) mixed in with book reading, listening to my iPod, and playing various card games. Favourite on deck was Sh*thead (also known as Fish T*ts), warloads/presidents and poker. Constantly if not always you had a drink in hand - common choice was beer.

By about mid-morning we would come to our swim stop. Most times it was early morning and it was fricken cold!! The sun hadn't quite warmed you up and by the time you jumped in, you were more than happy to get ...
Split, Croatia davechowie... the local restaurant. I had Karlovacke pivo (local beer) and domacka kelbasica (the home made sausage). Mmmm yumminess! We did some Croatian goodies from the supermarket - it took us a whiletofind an opened one, since it was Sunday.Afterwards, stuffed and happy, we took a tender back to the ship.
Split, Croatia bogna... seen (and succesfully eaten). It was literally one quarter of a whole pizza. But it was good! What I had seen so far was pretty much all that Split has to offer to tourists in terms of sightseeing. Its main attraction lies in a relatively long coastline, and sandy beaches just beyond the port, which is where tourists staying for more than one or two days spend most of their time. I already had my terrible tan, and this city was way too hot for me. The sun beats ...
Split, Croatia dhruvk... carnival rides, and live music. It's a party and I found it even though I was not invited!! Just kidding about the invite. I listened to the band for a bit, watched the crowd dance. I love watching people, did I mention that before? After a bit I decided to keep walking and explore this very large park further. |I must have walked 5-6 miles, but although it was hot, there was a lot of shade so it was quite enjoyable. I completed my loop and returned ...
Split, Croatia elaqid... in Split. A great veiw and it got the blood flowing. Some really nice pictures, and some lunch completed a pretty basic afternoon. The rest of the day was taken up by internet research and me tring to figure out how the hell to get to Oktoberfest. Split, Croatia mike81... will also wear my cap more often as I havent been doing that lately. This is only because my hair has gotten quite long and I sweat too much if I put a cap on. I guess I will have to tough it out. It would probably be a good idea if I put on sun screen as I hardly ever put it on. Before heading out to the beach, I checked out the bus schedule at the bus station as I need to meet Franca tomorrow ...
Split, Croatia dinovagabondMikelis has been obsessed with getting to Croatia, and boy it was difficult to get here (especially from Cinque Terre). We got a train to Ancona (6 hrs), then an overnight ferry to Split(10hrs)and then the ferry to Korcula (3.5 hrs). But it was definatelz worth it. Funny things happen when you are travelling, when we goton the ferry to Split we met a bunch of Aussies, all of them where either from the hunter region ...
