... outstanding characteristic is its helical spire! It was started in 1682 and more or less finished in 1732. It lacked a tower and that was finally completed in 1752. There was a sign that the tower was closed because of the weather. We went in and begged to go up, but the cashier was not going to let us go up. I even told her today was our last day. Oh, and one more thing about the Regal Princess. Often, when the ships are leaving port, they blast their horns at the other ships, in kind of a contest. The Regal and her sister ship, the Royal, now kick-butt in that contest. Their horns play the "Love Boat" theme, in deepest bass notes.
... Gardens. We had about 1-1/2 hours to roam around on our own before taking the bus back to the ship. Tivoli Gardens is one of the oldest amusement parks (operating since 1843) to survive intact to the present day. It's a mix of cafes, gardens, bandstands, amusement rides and an outdoor theater. We knew we would arrive back at the ship around 10:00pm which would be too late to eat dinner onboard (except for room service), so we walked around briefly and sat down at a ...
