... over 40 degrees and that feel's pretty hot at first, but once you immerse yourself in the water it's a really nice relaxing experience. Onsens are also a place where people meet and socialize, kind of like a sauna here but they are much more rooted in Japanese culture. Ito is a laid back city with lots of onsens. I stayed at the K's House hostel. It's 2900¥ but very nice place to stay and it has a onsen which one can explore. The hostel used to be a hotel and it dates back to 100 years ago. Very old wooden structure. Quite an experience for couple of nights. To get here it took me most of the day.
