... train attendant passes out moist towels and takes drink orders. We get complimentary coffee or tea. For quite a while the train drives through Tokyo and its suburbs and after a while we see less houses and more green and finally the ocean. We get off the train in Atami and walk to the Nippon Car Rental across the station. Another Subaru Imprezza is waiting for us. Between Atami and Ito it is more populated than ...

... to a shabu-shabu restaurant close to the hotel. All you can eat pork or beef, plus a self-serve vegetable bar After dinner we met Riko Oyama and her mother Teruyo in the lobby of the hotel. Unfortunately the journey home was less fun: it started badly when Gabe, his head still full of salt water and slightly dizzy after the pressure changes, got car sick and vomited. It got worse when we ...

... back here again. On the other side we didn't go up the cable car because I'm not great on heights so after a picnic sitting at the other end of the lake we got the boat back again. However I was really pleased with our decision that we'd seen enough of Tokyo in a single day and we should come out and try and see Mount Fuji. We'd been on a Shinkansen, a local bus for an hour past picturesque scenery and had a boat cruise on a lake and seen Mt Fuji apparently floating above ...
