... back here again. On the other side we didn't go up the cable car because I'm not great on heights so after a picnic sitting at the other end of the lake we got the boat back again. However I was really pleased with our decision that we'd seen enough of Tokyo in a single day and we should come out and try and see Mount Fuji. We'd been on a Shinkansen, a local bus for an hour past picturesque scenery and had a boat cruise on a lake and seen Mt Fuji apparently floating above ...

... that we ate whole by the chopstick-full. It took us a few minutes to decide on a restaurant and a few more to gather our courage for a new and slightly intimidating experience but once we were seated and the two helpful waitresses had explained how to order (in English no less) we were ready for anything. At first i wanted to go back straight to the hotel but i found a nice path along the river and decided to follow it for a while. I could see Koi swimming in the river and i managed to take some nice pictures since the weather had also cleared up ...

Onsens are also a place where people meet and socialize, kind of like a sauna here but they are much more rooted in Japanese culture. I checked into the hostel which is actually a very nice restored, 100 year old ryokan and right after unpacking my stuff i went to the room with the Onsen. I got undressed and washed myself while sitting ...

Ito Arrival

A travel blog entry by canadiansmiley on Oct 29, 2013

Ito is a laid back city with lots of onsens. I stayed at the K's House hostel. It's 2900¥ but very nice place to stay and it has a onsen which one can explore. The hostel used to be a hotel and it dates back to 100 years ago. Very old wooden structure. Quite an experience for couple of nights. To get here it took me most of the day. It was two train rides and 5 hours of travel. Relaxed in the bath and have a good night ...
