Cap. 1 Un inesperado mensaje

Surviving Pamplona!

... in all white with a red sash and red scarf tied around their neck and drinking in the street. The guys I arrived with and I set off for the center of town, bought the native costume, stashed our stuff and start partying. When it got dark the party got even more intense, everyone was singing songs in Spanish and drinking copious amounts of sangria (mixed with coke??), it was absolute debauchery in the streets. People were **************ing, having ...

Cowering from the Bulls

... and each take their turn to stab the now weakened bull between the shoulder blades, with the aim being to get the spears to stick in between the bull's shoulder blades and not come out. Once all the spears are in place (between some distraction from the pink-legging men), all the men leave the arena except for the toreador (bull fighter)
6: bull is quite weak and probably disoriented, with blood pouring down its shoulders ...

A rainy day

We'll remember this stage for the amount of mud we accumulated in our legs. It was an awkward day, at least this stage was pretty easy but the beginning (a huge climb with a lot of mud).

We founded the main refuge in Estella newly renovated, clean, with all the facilities... a nice place where we met people from Italy, Germany and New Zealand , we decided to cook together a huge tipical spanish omelet!!! We also took a walk around beatiful Estella despite of the pain in our legs!
Freedom and Pilgrimage

... in society and culture are bad. What I'm saying is that there is a lot of good and a lot of ****, just as there is in me. Travel and pilgrimage is a time to identify all these things, to dismantle myself, shift and make changes, and repair again with added growth and truth. I'm too fat to run away from Bulls..

... t really criticise it because it was Duff. I tried peeling the label in order to show my Simpson loving friends, as there was no way they'd believe me if I simply told them I'd had Duff beer. It was then I remembered I had a camera and would make my life a lot easier by just getting the barmaid to take a photo of me with the bottle of Duff...it is now my facebook profile picture, and rightfully so. I washed it down with a Czech Budweiser and caught the train to Zaragoza

El Camino de Santiago

... my rain gear and packed up a wet tent. Then the sun came out...no matter, I was heading up into the mountains. It'll likely be raining up there, I thought, and in any case it will be cold. As it turns out, St. Jean Pied de Port is the 'start' of one of the access legs of El Camino de Santiago, the ancient and famous pilgrimmage path to the city of Santiago in NW Spain. Funny I should fluke upon it this way. We had considered doing the Camino before we left, but figured we ...

Running of the Bulls...what a mess.

... the majority of people do. What´s so interesting about this festival is that it´s not only 20 something drunk idiots, it´s all ages alike. You´re just as likely to see grandpa in his white shirt and pants with red bandana as well as kids running around in the outfit. We had brought our white on white, so we joined the attire by buying a red bandana to make it official. Any other day I think I would have been able to handle this festival, and I ...

The running of the bulls

... Melanie, started hitting people in the face, so she got some in return. Not long after, her eyes swelled up and she was having problems opening them, so we tried to wash them out. The next step was a chemist, and as they couldn't help, we took her to hospital. We ran into some other people we knew, so they took her back to the camper. We stayed out walking and drinking and drinking and drinking some more. At around eleven, we decided to walk the eight ...
