We started the drive south from Porto but before we could get to far we went past some sort of stadium that was set up on the beach. We decided to stop for lunch and check it out, turned out to be the FIFA beach soccer World Cup. Somehow we managed to get ourselves free tickets and spent the next hour watching Spain vs Iran in quite an entertaining game. So awesome to stumble across such a big event. Everything was in Portugese but the maitre d helped us out and we ended up getting shared dishes for the five of us. The restaurant specialises in pork, both farmed and wild, as well as bean dishes. We had wild pork with beans and rice, pork belly (nowhere near as fatty as we would make it), vegetables, and another bean dish.

... ice cream loving peacocks in Cristos gardens. For 5.50€ ($8au) you received soup, bread, bottled water and the plate of the day... Which just happened to be fresh grilled sardines... See picture of Jordan salivating. The food was so good we returned the following days for Portugese delights and to get our vinho verde on. Asides from eating we are till trying to get over our urge to walk everywhere. So to spice ...

... we went to restaurant Cervejaria Brasao close to our hotel which was recommended by our guide Miguel. For dinner we had the sandwich which is recommended throughout Porto the Francesinha. Francesinha (meaning Little Frenchie or simply Frenchie in Portuguese) is a Portuguese sandwich originally from Porto, made with bread, wet-cured ham, linguiça, fresh sausage like chipolata, steak or roast meat and covered with melted cheese and a hot ...
