Our visit to Lisbon was too short!!! We arrived to a water cannon salute as the Ruby Princess was making her maiden visit to Lisbon around noon. It was a chamber of commerce day. Musicians were playing on the dock... The sky was very blue which made all the buildings here look very white and pastel colored....just gorgeous. We sailed under their new bridge which is a few meters longer than the San ...

When I was done touring the castle, I took the bus back to Sintra. I was feeling pretty tired by this point and I almost went straight back to Lisbon. But the bus got stuck in traffic right by the Nacionale Palace, so eventually I decided I might as well get off and go tour it (it was free with a Lisboa Card I had bought to ride public transportation and get ...
... they built it in the first place! Insane... I about died on the hike up, pretty steep. Plus the fact that I am not in the best of shape. And then all those stairs at the castle! Up and down, up and down, up and down - they must have had wonderful looking legs! So if you decide to visit and do the hike, by all means go for it because it´s beautiful, but bring more water than you think you will need because ...
Sintra, Estremadura, Portugal h_hurstthe first day-trip of this visit took me about an hour out of lisbon to a little town called sintra. apparently it was a favourite spot of lord byron, and lots of writers flock here. amazing palaces and gardens, full of tunnels and cool things to discover (including this massive well that's straight out of something from lord of the ...
Sintra, Estremadura, Portugal domhnall... we could thank him enough, the man was beneath his orange tree, shaking its branches and reaching for more fruit. He presented us with an armful of the tiny orange globes, and we let the sticky, tart juice run down our arms as we peeled the oranges in a dumpster we found a few feet away. After having received an anything but friendly welcome by most Lisboans the first few days, the orange tree owner ...
Sintra, Portugal whirledgirl... semi-final game between Portugal and France. The Portuguese colors were everywhere - and Samar and I tried to find a bar in the Barrio Alto where we could catch the game. Unfortunately nowhere offered a great view since the crowds had formed long before we had arrived. Unfortunately again there wasn't much for the red-and-green clad crowds to cheer for so we gave up and found a place to have dinner.
Lisbon, Portugal jphastings... off the train and past all the men trying to get people to come and stay there houses, we finally managed to get to the ticket booth to then try and book our ticket to Porto. Neither Christine nor I spoke any portugese and the guy behind the counter didnt speak more then broken english. So with lots of pointing and smiling we managed to get two tickets on the next train to Porto.
"Hangloose!!!" "Prendila comoda, Take it easy": urlo lanciato da due hawaiiani che ci hanno chiesto di scattargli una foto.
