We walk down to the Tejo through the arch and into the square where the Royal family were assassinated in 1908 and where Portugal was declared a republic in 1910. It's a lovely morning for a stroll along the river to the Cais de Sodre station. The train ride to Estoril is mainly along the coast, we pass the statue to Henry the Navigator, popular, may visit tomorrow. It's windy ...

... had to stand the whole way and hold on because Lisboa is very hilly. When we arrived in Belem we bought a ticket for the yellow sightseeing (hop on, hop off) bus of Belem which was 5 Euros for the whole day! At first we stayed on the bus for the whole loop of Belem and sat on the top deck outside with our headphones plugged into the tour box where a narrator spoke about the sights as we passed by them. We got to see the Ajuda ...

... if you are interested in European history and architectures .

On the average, I biked 20 to 40 km biking a day on flat or downhill terrain. On a few long and steep uphill, Marcel (my hero from Belgium) or Jose would put a helping hand at my back and push me. It felt just like riding with an electrical bike and it was a lot of fun. I learned from both of them to relax and use higher, more efficient gears and pedal at a constant ...
