... was a wonderful experience.
We took our time moving back to the Metro and headed back to the Old Town area in hopes of finding a restaurant where we could hear some spontaneous Fado (a sort-of Portuguese rendition of the Blues). We did find a couple of restaurants that featured such music but none of the musicians were starting until 9:00 which was a bit too late for us. We ended up taking a bus to the Cafe Suisse where we had ...
... same language with a different accent. Now, don't going quoting me on that, it's just my way to describe how similar they are, but they truly are two different languages and have lots of differences. However, I had very little problem understanding them enough to get the information I needed.
So, in summary, I LOVED Portugal, I can't believe I've spent so much time in Spain and have only now visited its neighbor, and I can't wait to go back!
... du Camel" It is basically raw egg yolks and caramelized sweetened condensed milk with egg whites folded in. We enjoyed dinner with our friends in Figuera. It felt like we have always been friends, they were so generous and amazing Hosts!. We traveled by motorway to Obidos-on the way to Figuera, so I could try the cherry wine in the chocolate cups! The town of Obidos was simply spectacular. Like stepping back in time. We walked the esplanaded streets ...
Amora, Setúbal, Portugal hollingers... countries, and obviously a great way to learn about one of these countries is to visit it. We all trekked to and from Lisbon- 7 hrs each way-YIKES, with a day in Portugal in between. We had an awesome guide from a study abroad program in Lisbon, saw great sites, ate amazing food paid for by our program and had a lot of fun.
Lisbon, Portugal mwalsh86I`m in a city I´ve always wanted to expeience and its everything I imagined it would be. I am already planning to come back. Its called the city of 7 Hills, no not Cincinnati. The hills are 10 times harder to climb and the city is so much more colorful. My hostel is cool too - the receptionist is from Angola and has been very helpful as to where to go and how to get there ...
Lisbon, Portugal mrcwoodsman... they were all singing. It turned out to be two people I barely know and two that I'd never met, which made it even weirder, plus Lucía and one other girl I kind of know hiding in the back. I guess I made a few new friends, if nothing else. It actually really made my day; the fact that four strange and slightly drunk people came in in the middle of the night and woke me up just to tell me Happy Birthday just made me feel really special. Then they all wanted me to come out to a club with ...
Lisbon, Portugal randiandersen... my cousin Carla. Monday morning, was frustrating again as i missed the 10.30 train because the man in front of me took 15 min to be served.... and i thought mother f*+ª@r .... now i have ti hang around on my own until 1.30!!! So i head once more to the park of nations and watch the river at it´s widest part whilst singing my heart out... i got some strange looks, but wasn´t too bothered. The 4 hr journey to Faro felt restless and long ...
Lissabon, Portugal psteerenberg... for us the wind died and we were caught in a frenzy of vessels taking advantage and streaming into the med. We dodged the Europe to Africa high speed ferries which crossed our paths at hard tangents and had a fleet of smaller tramp cargo boats accompany us as the Rock of Gibraltar passed to our left and the Rif Mountains of Morocco to our right. Coming some more to Port we laid course for the eastern side of Ibiza, leaving the dolphins that act as sentinels to Europe, sniffing the ...
Azores, Portugal twjthornton... After the aquarium, I walked across the street and found their huge mall. There was a movie theatre inside, and I really had nothing left to do for the day, so I decided I would finally see Star Wars. After trying to figure out what English word she was looking for, the ticket person finally got the point across that the projector was broken for Star Wars, so I opted for Sin City. Not a good move. First of all, I don't like Quentin Tarrentino, and when ...
