... and from there caught the suburban train to São Bento. The station was amazing, with beautiful azejulo tiles pictures everywhere in the entry. We loved our first impressions of Porto, it was so old, a little mix of Paris and Lisbon.

Our apartment had 3 door locks to go through, double locks on each door, and was our first experience of European apartment living. We had a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The lift and stairwell were seedy, but we had a great view ...

... hop off bus for the obligatory tour...even further impressed with the city ,beautiful Parks public places and great neighbour hoods. We hoped off at Belem ,home of the Portugese tart and wandered along the the parks and streets ,not joining the 100 m line to get a tart from where they originated.we had already tried 2 each,one was wait ing when we arrived at the hotel,the other with coffee so we passed up the original. ...

... returned from performing in Perth! Today set off for The World Heritage mountain village of Sintra. Caught the train at the beautiful Rossio station just near my hotel. Too easy. Left my case at the hotel and just took the backpack. SO GLAD I did. This place is a picture book village like something out of a fairytale but the hills and steps are are nightmarish. Will be developing calves of iron but may well be lining ...

... I arrived at my destination train station with only 500 meters to walk to my hosts house. I felt exhausted and needed to sleep. I decided to walk up the stairs and go through the tunnel. Not a person in sight and at 11pm I was feeling a bit worried. I saw 2 people coming towards me... I turned around quickly and went back to the well lit area.
