... have been timed better. It was incredible. The view from our studio apartment was equally impressive, and worth the $170/night price tag.

Our first day on the island, we procured a scooter for the duration of our stay, which cost 85 euro for three days (plus 6.50 euro in gas) and was a great way to get around Santorini. I took the scooter back to the airport to pick up my backpack, which had finally arrived from Athens ...

... wearing flip flops, but of course we didn't think of that!). Once in, the water was refreshing and so clear we can see the bottom. However, it did get deep very quick. After spending a few relaxing hours swimming and catching some rays, we caught the bus back to Thira.

And so another day passed in beautiful Santorini. We are now ready for another day of exploration tomorrow. Hmmmm... What to do next?....

Well we made it to Santorini...Let me tell you that getting here was a NIGHTMARE. There are two options to get to the islands, fly or ferry. The ferry is cheap and quick so obviously we opted for this.
I will try to let you visualize what we experienced. First when we boarded the ferry it was fine, we had nice comfy seats in the business class section of the ferry. We were seated beside two fellow Canadians from Edmonton. The lady informed me that she had already taken ...

... worse than my low expectations. It really is tourist-trashed out, with car rentals, scooter rentals and every imaginable shop and walk-in restaurant that caters to tourists lining the streets. The narrow streets are jammed with people off several large cruise ships anchored in the old port inside the caldera (6 ships when I flew in).
