Pelinor Santa Cruz de Tenerife

One of the most famous is the San Mathias Belen in Taco, just outside of Santa Cruz .
It's made on an open bit of land, which is dedicated to the Belen, which is a working miniature village, what ever a village has, you will find here in this 'Belen' - Church, Graveyard, Blacksmith, Baker, Butcher, Grocer, Manor House, lots of houses with the locals sat outside ...

... has been equipped to teach visitors about science. The center has a capacity of around forty people and is used to explain what an observatory is, how telescopes work and the importance of Astronomy for the human race.

Private individuals can visit the Observatory, but you need to check on opening hours arrange visit beforehand.

... downwards, given by the sand from the Sahara being contained and transported by the clouds, that made eveything sticky and humid and created a haze that made it difficult to see over 2-3 miles.

We made it to Mindelo, Sao Vicente, got there at 9pm on sun the 22nd of dec 09. The captain by now was tired and not communicative, tired from too many days at sea for him, not from too much work.

... voorklimmersval, maar het setje bleek net een fractie van een seconde snel genoeg ingehangen te zijn!

Vandaag veel gezweet en afgesloten met eens te kijken hoe de "echte" klimmers het allemaal aanpakken... Toch indrukwekkend!

En dat was dan het laatste dagje klimmen.
Morgen nog opruimen, even aan 't zwembad liggen (voor ene keer mag da toch, niet?) en dan de vlieger op en naar huis.

... hangen zodat we eens een paar moeilijkere routes toprope kunnen klimmen.

Na een aantal pogingen op een 6c en een 6c+, moeten we toch besluiten dat dit iets te hoog gegrepen is. Het lukt me telkens om tot op enkele meters van de relais te klimmen, maar daar blijkt het toch een beetje te veel van het goede te zijn!

... hoogte en komen we de “Heuvos del Teide” tegen. Dit zijn grote ronde rotsblokken die de eieren van de Teide worden genoemd. Er is hierover een informatiepaneel aanwezig. Het landschap wordt gekenmerkt door geel lavagruis. Na 5 kilometer zijn we op 2740 meter hoogte en begint de echte klim richting de Teide.
Als we niet naar boven gaan en het brede pad zouden volgen komen we weer op de Montana Blanca uit.

Gisteren hebben we bij Tenerife Outdoor een nieuwe topo gehaald van Tenerife. Moeten huren omdat er nog maar zeer weinig topo's beschikbaar zijn en deze moeten we dus op het einde van de week weer terug binnen brengen.

Vandaag klimmen in een soort canyon!

Eerste 6a voorgeklommen en 6b nageklommen door het touw te verhangen!

... Plaza de Las Americas - it was nice sitting outside that morning, instead of being cooped up inside a haunted pension.

I took a short walk down to the beach and harbour area - I had time to kill until "Dulceria Isabel" opened at 10. But no - it was a holiday and was closed today! I was denied once more!!! I couldn't get the girl before, but why can't they even allow me to have a snack at the Isabel pastry shop??? So close, yet so far ...
