It was barely mid morning and the humidity, hanging heavily in the air, had already melted away my make up. With one goal in mind, I swung my camera over my chest and sat passenger side in the shiny red rental. As we zipped through the winding roads of Isabela, only five minutes had passed before the sense of pure vacation bliss began sweeping over me. Other members occupying the back seat were busy chatting in Spanish ...
Isabela, Puerto Rico acollinsSo on our third day in Puerto Rico we decided to spend the day in Old San Juan & explore the Hacienda style architecture and also try out some authentic Puerto Rican food. Luck being on our side, we were there in the midst of San Sebastian festival, a grand gala spanning over a week. The whole city of Old San Jun beamed with live music, dance and a huge festive crowd flooding the streets and alleys of the city ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico magicarpet... and then started to leave. O oh they're coming to get us! But no they just motored slowly past, checking us out and then took off at hi speed again. Another lucky escape from what we are not entirely sure! We finally made it into the town centre where we spent 3hrs sitting in the plaza using the free WIFI. That's been one of our big problems here in Puerto Rico, lack of internet and with 6 people and only 3 laptops there was a queue as everyone tried to send ...
Mayaguez, Puerto Rico bellavita... started to appear with the typical white sandy beaches and coconut palms but still a very rocky shore line. As we rounded the corner, the beach continued but with a reef about 40 metres from the shore line. Where the heck were we supposed to anchor? Following the loose directions from our cruising guide we found a couple of leads and slowly sailed thru a very, very shallow cut in the reef into a lagoon. After releasing our breath at not ending up on the reef our ...
Mona Island, Puerto Rico bellavita... nature than we can afford to most of the time! For us this trip to the rain forest was amazing & very relaxing at the same time. A surprising range of vegetation encompassing the full spectrum of colors, starting from wild mushrooms to gigantic leaves which changed color & turned white on the inside as they received sunlight to hundreds of flowers from the hibiscus family in all different shades of reds & oranges ...

Mayaguez, Puerto Rico ramblerThe promised land. World-class board-breaking waves of Tres Palmas and Domes skirted by the crystal clear waters of Desecheo Island. House right on the beach with a swimming pool. Dive Shop, Taino Divers, in Black Eagle Marina. Banana Dang and the Rum Shack up in Puntas. Life is SWEET!
Rincon, Puerto Rico zroesingerAll flights arrive to BQN at extremely inconvenient times 4am! During my time in Rincon I made the trip thrice. Call Carlos in Rincon. He is dependable, friendly, speaks fluent English, is a Rincon local, has a huge van for your surf boards and is an all around good guy.
Aguadilla, Puerto Rico zroesinger... would take in some snorkeling. We headed out with Taino Divers to Desecheo Island which is 13 miles off the west coast. This snorkel made me want to take up diving. We were in anywhere from 6 to 50 feet of crystal clear water. The bottom was as easily seen from the surface as it would have been to dive, just without the detail of being on the bottom. All in all it was a great time. Tomorrow we head back to San Juan.
Rincon, Puerto Rico chrismyersI had to get up at 6:30 in the morning. we took southwest airlines. when we got to new orleans it was sprinkling. on the way to new orleans we stopped in oklahoma city and houston. the cab driver in new orleans played music all they way to the dock. our room on the ship was 429 and our ...
