All I remember about Bandung...malls

... once we saw what rolled up. This time it was an actual bus, but once inside we quickly realized we were in for another smokey, long (6 hour) and hot ride. Arriving in Bandung we were pushed off the bus at the terminal and quickly led onto another bus, this time a public one. Needless to say this was much worse then the last. Getting off at what was told to be our corner we made our way to the hostel district before finally deciding on ...

... left!!!! and on my way to Bogor.... So I really don't know what happenned but the important thing is that I will get in Bogor before dark so that if the hotel I have in mind is booked I can find another one!!!! The ride is fine and arrive in Bogor on time and get dropped off at the hotel. I find the hotel is definitely overpriced but again because of time of day I just take the room and will decide tomorrow if I will stay another night here.

... the angkot behind us has the word "stesion" on it so again I go to the driver and ask if he is going to the train station. Again, I think we have understood each other and I get on. I have no idea where I am going but I do end up at the train station which is only a street from my hotel!!!!! Amazing!!! I breath a sigh of relief and briskly walk to the hotel while thinking that it was indeed quite a lovely day.

... passenger and ask if this bemo goes to Ciater. She is silent, looks to the driver, and the driver answers for her."Ciater." Now for this story to make sense, you have to understand that in Bahasa Indonesian c is pronounced like ch. So Ciater is pronounced "Chee-ah-tur". Well, about 1 mile later, well away from the bemo station, everyone gets out and he shuts off the motor. I ask Ciater? He gives long ...

... flight from Seoul to Hanoi, about four months ago - Since I've bought my new shoes, I've been followed around the streets by numerous dogs - I found out, that Fanta Strawberry tastes like the "cocktails" we used to drink as little kids - If you travel in Indonesia, use the train instead of the bus. It's much faster, safer and more relaxing - I haven't been bitten by mosquitos, but already twice by bedbugs. The last time by about twenty in an 10cm by 10cm area on my back. They hurt/itch much more than mosquito bites

... people were there with me. Around 7 AM, I heard a faint clinking outside. Oma was already up, and later told me that it was another vendor serving traditional pancakes called Serabi. I didn't have any, but remember having them when I was young. It's made from corn and rice flour, topped with salty condiments such as cheese, eggs...and sometimes, chocolate or bananas and brown sugar syrup. Breakfast came later, which is the usual semi western breakfast. The usual, eggs, sausages ...

... funny in that—at most, it is only a bit strange to the untrained ears. But what ensues to us here is beyond that, so funny it successfully makes us laugh our heads off like never before. It happens so suddenly. A waiter approaches one of us and says (originally in Indonesian), “I am sorry for keeping you waiting. The food is ready and is now being packed.” Indonesian word for ‘pack’ is ‘pak’: the ‘a’ in it reads like the ...
