HERE IS THE END OF MY SUMMER DESTINATIONS 2009 Blog.
I can admit, I went to more places than I expected. It was fun each time, and I really need to stay a bit at home now before my next trip. Again the coming trip comes sooner than I expected it to be.

Here it is... our last blog entry- a bitter-sweet thing really. AS sad as we are to leave Europe and our travels behind, we are excited for our OWN beds, a shower with WATER pressure, SPICY food, and of course all of you: our friends and family. We are both exhausted, and touristed out, so we took our last day to relax and enjoy the wonderful Greece sun. We slept in a little this morning , after staying up until about 2:30 am talking to our Canadian roommates. We then ...
Rafina, Attica, Greece katyandkallie7/2 It was tough finding the right bus station and the right bus to Marathon but after that it was a really nice roadtrip. Jeff had suggested I visit and I thought it would be something different to do on a visit to Athens. Many new upscale houses are being built on the hills between Athens and Marathon. Between the two cities it was very windy and hilly so I can see why the marathon was so tough when it was held in Athens in ...
Marathon, Attica, Greece rnriggins... the peak at mid-day heat I cried out to the great Gods of this ancient land: "Ho, ye gods - give me a break". And so, Hermes the God of travelers who was also looking out for the weak and the weary that day, heard my cry and provided me with a 20 Km decent, followed by a relative plateau until I reached my final destination. As the sun began to fall lower in the sky and became dimmer as it was covered by the evening haze, I reached the city of Thiva.

STENI EVIAS, Greece evia... s. We had the old gods watching over us as the weather was simply perfect. Just the right temperature, and clear skies after rain. I couldn't believe the difference from mid Summer when I was there last and the think layer of pollution hovering around, making me take a direct track to the islands as soon as possible. What a contrast, as Athens was at its best and seems quite an happening pleasant place to be, not somewhere to immediately try to escape. Before we did ...
Chalkis, Greece gypsyfeet7/5 We got here on the plane and landed a sweet little apartment for our stay. We had a nice lunch that included meat which we were thrilled about after days of pasta, tomatos, and cheese. I tried Tatziki and Souvlaki which were both really good. We did some laundry which was really expensive compared to what it would be at home, but it was nice to have clean clothes again. Mark and Jason went to explore and I stayed back to read and ...
Athens, Greece kellyfoxToday we are in Athens, Greece. Our schedule changed a bit due to a rental car issue. Today we went to the Parthanon. It is under construction. It is very big, hard to beleive that it was even built. We also saw a few other ruins today. We explored Placa, that is the ara that our hotel is in. It is a nice part of town, very pretty with little resturants and shops. We ate gyros, they were great! Tomorrow we are taking a trip to Delphi, Greece.
Athens, Greece heathm9My mother, sister and I took a trip to Evia. This was my grandfather's island as my mother would always say and after a couple of busrides, we reached his village. Then, through a series of unprecedented conversations with the locals, my mother in her fluent Greek turned to us, pointed to a derelict ...
