    ... fast here in China.

    Getting around

There are many taxis, motorbike taxis and tricycles. However, they will often try to overcharge you if they know you are not a native of China, or Beihai. Haggling is customary, so do not be afraid to ask for a lower rate. Getting a taxi ride from the Shangri-La hotel to the train station is about 20 RMB. Taxis should use a meter; there is a surcharge of 1 to be paid in addition to the fare shown on the meter.

I went for a walk along the seaside anyway though and had a brief walk along the old quarter to grab a coffee. When I got back the adorable hostel staff offered to help me with booking ...

After a delicious lie in I went for a walk along the sea. After being sufficiently frozen from the wind I headed to the old quarter. Here there were loads of strange statues and people selling deep fried fishy/seafoody carb things. I tried one and think it was probably giant fish balls, so it was yummy. After popping into some shops and narrowly missing being set on fire by some hooligans who were setting off fire crackers for no apparent reason, I got ...

... happy there that we hadn't the smallest reason to complain about anything.

We really can recommend to stay a few days in Behai, although there is not much to do its perfect to relax, take it easy for a day or two.
