      Today sees us leaving Witton Gilbert with Passports! Vicky took us to Durham Station and then we caught the train and bus to Manchester Airport! The whole journey went very smoothly, with the exception of lugging large cases up and down stairs at York but hey ho! Very early in Airport - 1hr before gate opened. Looking forward to being frisked by Si but he's in Teneriffe! Both well and now waiting for Gate to open and signing off for next ...

      ... check where the flight went before we drove all that way, it went to Kazakhstan - we booked three nights in a hotel in Ripley in Yorkshire instead. We got to hotel, hit the room, hit the wifi and sat there cancelling the first batch of hotels we'd painstakingly booked six months ago while in NZ, at least they were free cancelation but it certainly wasn't the start to our trip we'd envisaged.       ... eat. We decided on Yo!Sushi inside Selfridges. We have always wanted to eat at a proper sushi bar and the novelty of sitting inside a department store and eating dinner was so cool that we decided to go all out! They tally up your bill by counting the different coloured plates you have and charge you a certain price for each coloured plate. It was certainly the most expensive sushi we've ever had but it was amazing!

      ... the pick up was from a hotel across the road so we walked over to get it. I'd read a few bad reports on the net about Thrifty Heathrow but they were great and after signing things without reading them and declining any upgrades the girl handed us our keys.       ... which didn't work before going on it again once done the second time he came back and explained how sick he felt from the ride and this is why he didn't want to go on it the second time all i could do was laugh so mean but had to be done.
