Quiet even though it is near the runway of Atlanta Airport

The hotel was very quiet and you could barely here the planes due to soundproof glass. The planes fly right over the hotel and it is neat to watch them at night.

After an emotional farewell, I left the atlanta runway, lovingly cradling a big black book I had been given as a going away gift. I had left America after living there for one year and the book was full of messages from friends (and adopted family) wishing me well. As expected I sniffled my way through each message (listening to Keane's somewhere only we know only worsened melancholy). I soon held back the sniffs and tears upon becoming acutely aware of my seat-mate's uncomfortable ...

After our 8 hour training we decided to go out after dinner to check out the city. We went to a local brewery and had delicious brews. Then we went to a Mexican place where we got free drinks because the bar tender was a previous VISTA! Unfortunately, I was still on antibiotics from ...

... fourteen Atlanta men got together and founded the Atlanta Historical Society; Walter McElreath (1867-1951) led the group that began by publishing a history bulletin (last published in 2006). The group remained small till 1986, when Beverly DuBose donated a collection of Civil War artifacts and the current museum was built. Since then, a $15 million museum opened (1993); an expansion was completed (1996); a fourth permanent exhibit ...

Dear Friends, Family and Malawi teammates,

My departure for Malawi begins in just a few hours with the first stop in London. For several months, I've used this travel-blog for the Malawi team to submit photos/biographies so that we could get to know one another in advance of the trip. At this point, I will now transition the blog as a method of keeping family and friends updated with our progress in Malawi.
