... interstate and drove about one mile to Picacho Peak State Park. Very interesting park with a different landscape. It was beautiful. These AZ state parks are all different and very unique. Snowbirds are gone so not many people camping here and they are starting to shut some of the parks down because in the summer it is just too hot to camp. We loved it!

I reviewed the campground below and tomorrow we are heading north ...

... and found a cheap motel, the name of which I don't even remember. That's not the important part. What's important is that I was able to get warm and dry, and spend the night in a comfy bed. It had been another long day of riding - nearly 400 miles - and I didn't feel any allegiance to my thermarest.

No time spent in Payson, other than to sleep, and then off for the quick hop to Sedona.

... very cool. From New Mexico I went into Arizona. I stayed at the Meteor Crator RV Park just a few short miles from Meteor Crater Park. This is where the Apollo astronauts did some training to go to the moon. It is one of the best preserved meteor craters found so far.
