    ... public transport system!! We were a bit sad that they were disembarking at Bruges, which is between Ghent and Oostende. However, as they were leaving Tom seriously shook our hands, and so there were handshakes and high fives from every child within coo-ee of us. In Belgium, seniors can travel anywhere within the country in a day for 6€. We wished we had to go further so we could get better value for our money! Another great day. God bless.     We stopped at the local grocery to pick up bread, meat, cheese, fruit, cookies and soda, then rented bikes for the afternoon. Took a ride through some back streets away from the tourist crowd--absolutely charming architecture every way you turn! Ended up at the NE section of the outer canal which used to be the moat for the city. Enjoyed our picnic in a beautiful park before continuing our ride. We went by the City Hall, fountains, and statues.One building was called the "Butcher's Building" as the facade looked like strips of bacon the way they arranged the bricks.     ... reminders. The rain fell heavier than normal, and Monday was clearly the day the locals spent piecing their city back together, restocking ready for the next influx, so I decided to hop on the train and spend an hour or two in Brussels.
