    AM- Wow, woke up to thunder & pouring rain this morning, that should drop the temperature a bit. Tomas says this has been the hottest summer for more than 25 years. Shops, particularly in the Old Town areas, do not have air conditioning and can't cope with hot weather. Tomas headed off for a medical in Klaipeda then his first day at the timber mill in Prusaliai as a fitter, it's 60 kms away! But they are moving out to Kartena shortly and into ...

    ... it was a picture perfect day, sun shining, no wind! Lots of people out today, sailing, rowing, paddling across the lake, we crossed over to the castle on the one & only bridge to the island. We didn't go into the castle or museum, there were big queues of people lined up, will save that for another day. PM - Well what else could we have for lunch but more Kibinai's!     We spent quite a while in that museum. When we got out, someone gave us a pamphlet, which highlighted The Castle Museum. Realized that it was on our way back to the ship anyway, we decided to give it a try.

    There were huge signs pointing us to the entrance as we arrived the grounds of the museum. We followed the stairs down into a cavern, a lady took our entrance fee, and we were off to see ...

    ... enjoyed the sunshine and feel no sadness with leaving tomorrow morning! Would I recommend it to fellow-travellers? I’m not sure – if you want to visit just to “tick that box”, then go for it! But, it is part of Russia, so it requires the complicated Russian Visa, though for holders of an EU Passport, you can get a 3-day Transit Visa, which is more than enough time!
