... hard seats instead of comfy berths that were already sold out. At least we looked forward to having one seat for each of us. Well, believe it or not but it didnīt go so well after all. Good luck had simply evaded us through most of our train journeys in China. As long as nothing more serious happens it can be considered as another funny travel story :)

One thing to know about Sumatra is that traveling is slow. One of the worst places I've experienced for road travel. The roads are full of holes, sinuous, and too busy for their size. The buses are old and the drivers take too many risks trying to save time. So it took a bus back to Medan for perhaps 3 hours from Bukit Lawang, then another bus to Parapat which we reached at night, too late ...

... same time. Could be a while;they are halfway through their round-the-world honeymoon, and by the time they get back we will be in Poland, or somewhere else - some good plans for the coming year!
This all decided on, our waitress appears with some of the most magnificent pancakes. They are enormous, and look fantastic. Without more ado, it's up knives and forks and at 'em.
I, and Baska too, had opted for the simple banana pancakes. Simple it wasn't. ...
