... stop was Phi Phi Don Island a much bigger island first– this one was badly affected by the Tsunami in 2004. We hopped & off & went to a restaurant where lunch was provided. We had 6 dishes on each table – fried onion rings, fish, sweet & sour fish, stir fried chicken & cashews, spag bog & followed by fruit. After lunch I walked through to the other side of the island – all ...
Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand hilaryramsey... i.e. - hot showers, using the washing machine and then getting the clothes dry on the line in 2 hours, and of course the excellent food and drink. The beaches with clean white sand and clear blue water were amazing and it was hard to imagine the Tsunami wave crashing through at 4 metres high. A lot of holiday resorts and beach side shacks have been rebuilt and apart from the evacuation signs and the broken coral ...
Phuket, Thailand pandb... 2km inland so you can walk around that which feels a bit odd, but otherwise there is just a small tent selling dvds and a magazine, both of which are available at stalls in town. Finally got to the elephants at 1130 and set off for an enjoyable trek. The track was through bamboo fields and forest, and much of it was along a creek. Fascinating watching how carefully ...
Patong, Phuket, Thailand russdi... and tried out much of the local cuisine - Think we are going to be big fans of South East Asia. Initial trials of local transport proved to be surprisingly efficient and cheap. Phuket town is nothing overly amazing but is a good base to explore from and was worth a visit.
Phuket, Thailand bradandbecs... come around the corner of an island, another stunning vista of karst formations would unfold. Then our guide, Bao, would direct our attention at the rocks right beside our kayaks where we would see a huge lizard, crab, or bird going about its business. Oops! Running out of internet time. We are trying to post some pictures right now. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer, talk to you soon! Jessa and Kathie and Sheryl
Phuket, Thailand jessamc... We reach Jungceylon and head straight to the Food Court which boasts "food from all parts of Thailand". It is like a ghost town, barely populated and sparsely furnished with tables and chairs. There are 2 coupon card counters and a play area for small children. We peruse a total of 8 food stalls and each are equally unappetising. Dad starts ordering willy nilly and doesn't understand when the lady refuses his money. I have to explain the card ...
Patong, Phuket, Thailand tric1003... day tomorrow. We're online at mo hiding from the rain, but do intend bring our camera equipment to upload more pics soon. Love to everyone XxX Sat 10th May A beautiful morning so we hit the beach where we met up with Jo and Kate, managed to get in a bit of sunbathing and a few dives in the sea before the heaven's opened again. We ran for shelter, worried our camera's would get wet. Got back to the hotel to find the small damp patch on our ...
Phuket, Phuket, Thailand christina_sam... Carpenter. He thought it was really funny and we just went along with it all. The plan was for him to drive us around to some of the major sites we wanted to see and since it was a really reasonable price he was offering (less then $2), we agreed to go with him. Before we left, we discussed our route, mainly a viewpoint over the city and one of the Buddhist temples nearby . He asked if we wanted to do any shopping and we explained as clearly as we could that we ...
Phuket, Thailand andersontravel... believe this is the longest farewell in history, you're right, it does seem like ages! I think cos we've talked about going for so long, and then with all the uncertainty of Brad going - not going - going - not going -going to Paris for the consultant contract it has taken a while! So just thought we'd drop you all a quick line to let you know that we're about to finish our 'pre-holiday holiday' in Phuket and ...
Patong, Thailand roamingmonk... the truth became clear, the crowd were not actually cheering me on but trying to warn me that their was a fan above my head which would slice my head open ( Yep, I didn't see it until the owner switched it off - thankfully!!!) although he did by a round a drinks for the bar. We then went to a few more bars including the lady boy street - do not go there along and ****** otherwise you might be in for more than you bargained for, unless you like that ...
