... Some reflections on the trip.
The fact that we even did our trip is an amazing sign of progress. We went to Malaysia that was a former British colony and now an independent and growing multi-cultural society. We then went to Singapore that was a British outpost and now a regional hub with amazing standards of living. Borneo was occupied by the Japanese at the end of WWII but is now a developing area. The impact of that development on the environment ...
... a tour guide showing us and taking us places to eat. We went for tea in the hotel restaurant- not very adventurous, but we were more than happy with our delicious food! We've travelled to Thailand, eaten in an Italian restaurant and Richard was eyeing up the Hereford ribeye steak!! We are now back in the room. After that, in 95 degrees F and 90 percent humidity we were templed out!
Our next day was a visit to the floating market. Markets such as this have ...
... reflect its name - as a giant airport terminal. Uniformed "pilots" salute you as you enter, and each floor is themed as a different city around the world, with departure and arrival signs at escalators. Another great find was Fantasia Lagoon - a very impressive waterpark on the roof of Bang Kae Mall. Great for something to do with kids. Extremely well priced at just $8 per adult, and very impressive facilities. But our time I'm Bangkok was not without its low points ...
