Holy Toledo!

... restaurant on Calle Alfonso X, which we planned earlier to have dinner at. We roamed the streets, drunk, for over an hour and had fun clowning around and videotaping "The Blair Witch Project- Part II (using the light on the camera for horrific effects). We asked locals for directions, but continued to get lost in the tangled streets. At about 11:30pm, we pulled the plug on the operation and decided to dine at the classiest restaurant in Toledo- McDonald's. We kept our ...

... its construction (built by political prisoners). The next day we went to the center of the city at the Plaza Mayor and walked aroud the city past the royal palace etc. The palace reminded me a lot of Bukingham Palace! The following day we took an hour bus ride to Toledo which is GORGEOUS! Very old and people are really nice to tourists..this was not the case in Madrid.

... of Franco. Usually I only like fiction books, so I'm surprised that I'm enjoying this book. I went to dinner with 3 of the girls in my program. We went to a hookah bar. The dinner we ordered was very good. I'm glad we found that restaurant. Oh, and before we had dinner, we saw a gay pride...concert. I think it was suppose to be a concert ...

... and we arrived back in the square by the Cathedral where an American girl stood up and said, ´ I knew i´d see you guys around, this place is really small´. Camera back on us, we took it easy for the rest of the day. Good learning lesson. One person must hold everything from now on... Add on: before everyone jumps to conclusions-this is the first time we´ve mislaid a camera! And you will all be glad to know we are sticking to disposables for much of South America!

... Chie feeling very exhausted, we went back to rest. Our final evening was supposed to be a very quiet one, but after a few canas and tapas in El Tigre, I felt like a few more, so we walked a bit more, and noticed that lots of people were wearing strange hats with guiness written on them. Then a bar with green and orange balloons all over it, I stepped into the sweaty, smoky, noisy bar and realised it must be St Patricks Day. A live band ...

Madrid

We arrived in Madrid and after some helpful hints from a local pharmacist we made it to our hostel to be pleasantly surprised with some more dodgey accommodation. Must be something about the Spanish, somehow the standards seemed to be dropping dramatically.....This time we had a damp-smelling room due to a leak in the bathroom roof which soon spread into two leaks in the bathroom (more like Niagra Falls) and one in the bedroom. After the third ...

Training Day

... language, familiarity, "trainers vs. trainees barrier" (weird but true), and perhaps the key reason - it's just hard to break the ice in a big group with all kinds of cultures and languages. No worries - it will surely come... Training wrapped up at 6pm - 1 hour later than planned. The Canucks stayed behind, and worked til 9:15pm, prepping and reviewing for subsequent days of training. Our friend ...

... the weapon into its neck. This also brought a cheer to the audience but I could not help thinking that the crowd did not really enjoy themselves as I did not see even one Mexican wave. Penny had long gone to bed and I did not attempt to recap on the highlights over breakfast the next morning. The next leg of the train trip to Barcelona passed through some dry looking country but the Spanish still managed to grow crops. What looked like potatoes and peanuts and a grain like barley ...

Day 3

today we slept in late, and followed this up with a 2-hour stint in the hotel spa, sounds really arb, but we stayed an extra day so that we didnt have to rush around like our last weekend away where we ran our legs off trying to fit everything in, the spa was a heated rock pool, jacuzzi, ice pool, roman foot bath, sauna etc when some hairy old dude arrived we decided our time was up, and we were outta there the rest of the day was that notorious spanish pastime...the ...
