After carrying my backpack for five days, my body was weary. Instead of taking a rest day, today I chose to have my pack transported to the next auberge. It was still a long day (14.58 miles) but we made it here by about 3 pm. The next two days look grueling, so we may decide to break them into shorter routes. Those of you who know me well know that this walk is far from my comfort zone. I'm not in the best of ...

We were especially entertained by a dad and 3 yr old boy kicking a soccer ball back and forth as mom and infant sister watched too. Our little 50 yard visual lasted less than 15 seconds! Still very exciting and worth getting up for, but over so quickly! ...

... of extremely picturesque towns including Obanos, Puente La Reina, and Corauqui. We're staying in an Albergue in Lorca having covered about 12.5 miles. Our health has been very good. Walking is strenuous but we are coping well and our bodies are adjusting. We have had very little problem with blisters so far and are glad of every moment of training which preceded our trip. Well it's getting late so we will close and dream of tomorrow's ...

... going an alternative to us, so we had a 2km diversion to get back on track into Puente la Reina.

Puenta la Reina is fabulous old town with the most amazing wooden doors on every establishment, I remember photographing ALL of them last year. I gave the Albergue Jakue a miss this year as there is no way I was going to sleep in the dormitory from hell. We managed to get booked into the monastery this time at €5 a night, you can't go wrong. In a dorm with 14 ...
