I am right now in the South of Brazil, colonized mainly by europeans (Germans, italians...) I took a night bus to Floripa (12 h) and there is a good place to visit some beaches in the Santa catarina island.
After these days I will be in the NGO doing the reforestation project, for two weeks. However I have some days before fliying back to Europe. I may be visit Iguaçu falls (Depending on money, of course)

... bus the seats go pretty flat here and i had a empty seat next to me. So I managed to sleep most of the way woke up once in the night. Arrived pretty stiff in Florianópolis at 8am this morning. I had already choisen the Hostel I wanted to stay at called Tucano House - aparently the second best hostel in South America... I must say its pretty nice really.

So today I have chilled at the hostel it started out as a nice sunny day and I was going to go to ...

... then drove down ere which takes over 30mins cos of the speed limits it goes from 40km/h - 60km/h or 80km/h!!! even on great roads total madness, anyways, we got down ere for after 11am and had to bring the car back to the car rental place for 12 mid-day so we hit the road again, and went nearly there when Will realised he would prob need his mastercard cos they put a deposit on it of R$1000 if there was an accident or we didn´t come back etc ...

... behind the hills when I woke up from our nap on the beach. Playing in the rough surf tired us out completely so we decided that we would attempt to walk back to Barra de Lagoa beach house. There was a 20 minute hike that we could do up through the forest, a way that we had been before but coming down on to the beach. We walked through a bunch of shrubs that seemed familiar but not quite how I remembered it. There were two men standing to one side chatting but smiling at us as ...

... After dinner Marina and I headed back to the main house to get ready and go out in Lagoa. The many bars were jam packed and it was so incredibly hot. We found a bar/cafe with fans and had a beer before giving up and having Temaki before going home. Temaki is a Japanese takeaway with a sushi paper wrapped in a cone shape and filled with sushi toppings. I had one with salmon and chunks of cream cheese and it was so delicious.

... find the way to the coast. its a big city. finally at the coast it was pretty quiet as off-season. nice beaches with real white sand welcomed me. i took 2 days to cruise up north along the beach up to florianopolis. its peninsula is just great. perfect beaches and a good vibe make it a pleasent experience. i got an offer for my westy there but, of cose, brazilians cant buy a foreign car.

I convinced the surf school guy I didn´t need lessons. yada yada yada I had a friend at work who had had a bad surfing injury and yes I know the waves are powerful blabla bla --RICK: I was more aware of my lack of surfing ability and got a body board - very daring -- ...anyway, cutting to the point so to speak. I swam out to catch my first wave. So eager because I haven´t surfed in two years. And ...

... tranny tendencies and strut around the house in dresses! We are all in hysterics... Our final night out in Floripa starts with some drinks (what a surprise.) Then we bail and go to a massive club called Floripa Music Hall. We cant believe the set up, lights and effects are just banging! Unfortunately our night is cut a little short as Corinna becomes a little ill...but all was well, we had a friendly tranny who worked in the club looking out for us ahah.

Our last stop in Brazil was a large island connected to the mainland by a bridge, another overnight bus from Foz. We by-passed the city of Florianapolis and followed all the other rucksacks to the beaches and a little fishing village called "Barra do Logoa". It was quite a cute town with a long stretch of beach and we were happy as larry when we got ourselves a little apartment - our own fridge and cooker at last !(even if ...
