... I had chicken tikka masala. The locals have a very thick accent, which is quite hard to understand. Hull itself seemed a sad and rundown place, with high unemployment and many deserted factories and foundries. Apparently it is trying hard to improve its image, and had been named UK City of Culture for 2017. A lot of work needs to be done for that, but I hope they keep the rag and bone man.

... we had tea in a house built in 1680, yesterday we walked on the 14th century York walls and today we visited a 1712 house. So, when Captain Cook arrived in Australia in 1770, I can better understand why he claimed it, and thought it was empty.

We leave England tomorrow, taking a ferry from Hull to Rotterdam. We've been in the UK and Ireland for a total of about 3 months, and we've loved it all - the beauty, the culture, the food, and the people.
